VSSUT Burla The Best university of Odisha

Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology(VSSUT), Burla, formerly known as the University College of Engineering Odisha state government university that was established in 1956 because of the maintenance of almighty Hirakud Dam, at that time there were only 3 branches, Electrical Engg, Mechanical Engg & Civil Engg. Moving towards many other branches were also established. Now currently more than 4000 Thousand students are enrolled in 4 years Btech degree. As this is Odisha's oldest government-funded university the counseling process was very simple and straightforward after JEE results in the counseling process starts within OJEE process there are 3 rounds of counseling. The admission process was also straightforward few documents verification was done as the fees for the first year were paid online. VSSUT was going to be renamed as IIEST but not due to some controversies. This college provides many internships also in fact recently I've done training in OHPC(Odisha Hydro powerplant Corp).

Each semester there is one Mid-semester examination(20) and End semester examination(70M). The faculties are highly experienced and done PGs, Master from IITs & NITs, they are very supportive and helping anytime we need them. Then there are practicals and viva then assignments rest (10M). 70+10+10=100M total. Exams are not really tough in fact if you've studied properly then you can get good grades easily. There are digital boards also they are now moving into digital teaching techniques. In my dept EEE, there are around 12-15 faculties and a total of around 240 students in EEE(all 4 years).

Internships and training are the best part of the college, the college recommends 3 major internships to be done before placements and they offer or advise a lot of training, internship, seminars, hackathons throughout the year. You'll get the best of opportunities here. Students have done many projects starting from ISRO to winning many hackathons. In fact, the idea innovation cell of the college is getting funds from ISRO for their incubation centers. I've recently done major internships in Odisha Hydro powerplant Corp (OHPC) attended many webinars and hackathons. Innobuzz is one of the hackathons organized in ur university.

The 3rd year or the 6th sem students are eligible for campus placements. Again the packages and selection criteria depend on the company. Around 80-85% of students get placed rest opt for higher Studies such as Mtech or MBA. Many Big companies are coming such as TCS, Accenture, Tata Steel, Mindtree, Cognizant, Delloite, Vedanta, Amazon, etc. The average package is nearly 5-6LPA. Overall it's worth it. The highest package is gone nearly 15-16LPA as of I know. My future plan is to go for campus placements or MBA.

To be honest the fee structure changes every year for every semester there's not a big difference though. There are many scholarship programs also such as Post metric scholarship for SC/ST students, Disabled Scholarships, Medhabruti Scholarships, Scholarship By NTPC & SAIL, and many more.

Mainly 3 fests are organized every year technical fest Samavesh, Cultural fest Vassuant & Sports fest Illumina. Apart from that many other hackathons and fests such as Livegen, Artifex, etc are organized. There is a central library that also supports ebooks also. The classrooms are well-furnished also with digital board and LAN connectivity. Now there are many Clubs where students outshow their extraordinary performances in clubs such as Robotics society, E-Cell, Idea innovation Cell, Pixels Photography, Audiovisual, Quizzine, Enigma coding, and many more. In short campus life is very beautiful and productive.

Hostels are very much affordable in VSSUT they provide LAN in every room, each room has 3-4 beds, 3-4 shelves, 3-4 study tables and chairs, 3-4 Shoe racks. Rooms are pretty much ventilated and big. The hostels have a common washroom with is provided with a washing machine on each floor. The mess food is great because they have been taken care of by a firm which provides delicious food and you'll get nonveg for 4-5 days of a week. There is a dedicated canteen and students store in every hostel. There is a dedicated post office for VSSUT and a dedicated stationary shop. You can also rent nearby PGs there are lots of PGs available at affordable cost with well furnished with are nearly within a 2KM radius of the university. But the University assures 100% accommodation available for all students.
