Remarks
Admission was done through JEE Mains and JOSAA counselling. Like other NITs, it has 50% Home state and 50% Other state quotas. I opted for the Home state quota. Our college has an old legacy, many alumni are established in many sectors of India and other countries also. You can get an excellent college life, green and beautiful campus and very good hostel facility in this Institute. Academics, Faculty members and scope of research and future studies are very good. Placement is not as good as IITs and top NITs but better than some of the NITs, state Govt colleges and most of the private colleges. Placement statistics of CST, IT is better than that of the other branches. Despite going to the IT sector, Maximum students of core departments always try to make their career in the care sector (even through off campus, GATE and PSU recruitment exams). This is a good scenario that is not found in most engineering colleges nowadays.
Course Curriculum Overview
Faculty:Student Ratio is 1:35. Faculties are highly qualified, the teaching method of most of the faculties is excellent. In exams, some subjects are difficult to pass (mainly in offline mode). It is totally dependent on the syllabus of the subject, difficulty level of the question paper.
Internships Opportunities
Many core departments arrange Vocational Training in the industry of various core companies in the summer (not possible in the pandemic situation). The number of core companies offered Internship (on-campus) is less. The number of IT companies, in this case, is quite more. Many students get off-campus internships. Many students get Research/Project Internships in Academic and Research institutes.
Placement Experience
Placement is not as good as IITs and top NITS but better than some of the NITS, state Govt colleges and most of the private colleges. Placement statistics of CST, IT is better than that of the other branches. Follow the Institute website and official Facebook Placement page for more details. The pandemic situation affects the placements badly. In spite of going to the IT sector, Maximum students of core departments always try to make their career in the core sector (even through off campus, GATE and PSU recruitment exams). This is a good scenario that is not found in most engineering colleges nowadays.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is the same as the NITs. Students who have a total family of <5 LPA, got concessions. Some Alumni sponsored scholarship is also there for the economically week talented students and students with excellent All-rounding performance.
Campus Life
Many cultural and technical fests are organized. Cultural - REBECA, Oikotan, KRITI and many more, Technical - Instruo, Initium, Impetus, Sphuran and many more. There are separate playgrounds and courts for separate sports in the Institute.
Hostel Facilities
All of the students don't get a hostel. Students of other states and some of the home state students (whose hometown distance is more than 100 Km from the Institute) get hostel first. After that, if some of the hostel seats are vacant, the rest of the students get them. Overall, Most of the students got hostel. There are Single rooms for final year students. Overall food quality is good, and cooking is done in Bengali style. Most of the other state students adapt it quickly and like it very much. If you are a vegetarian, then the food quality is good but the food has a small range of variety. If you are a non-vegetarian, the food has a wide range of variety and the quality is excellent. Hostel facilities are very good at that price.
