Laurels of IIT ISM

I qualified for JEE advanced 2020 and applied for the program through JOSAA counseling and got the bachelor of technology program for mining engineering through GEN quota. The criteria for getting BTech in IIT ISM is only through JEE advanced. After furnishing all details of my marks and required info, I got admission to this prestigious college.

The reason for applying for this college is its prestige since it is IIT ISM and famous for its mining background and great faculty and revered professors in the entire world in the mining field. The number of students in this program is also good about 117 in my batch. All faculty in ISM are super qualified in their field with a Ph.D. degree in their program and great depth in the practical ground since mining is mostly a practical subject rather than theoretical. ISM too provides a lot of opportunities to the students to have practical knowledge and training in this field and takes us for excavations and groundwork. Even the theoretical aspects are not overlooked since we have frequent exams and tests to check our progress. We have 2 exams in one semester and quizzes every month.

Many seniors from the mining branch got internships from big companies like PWC, ESSL mining. Some even qualified gate exam 2021 with air 4, air 7, etc. The general stipend amount was 30000 per month and some even got PPOs. The field of tasks included consultancy firms, basic mining, etc.

In the 3rd year, students can get PPO( pre-placement offer) while they get placed only in the 4th year. The companies that gave placement offers include Google, Microsoft, Vedanta, ESSL, coal India, etc. The highest package that has been bagged by the student of IIT ISM is 90 lakhs then 80 lakhs and about 8 students have been given a package of 54 lakes this year in 2021. This year more than 124 students got a package of more than 25 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placement is also high about 80% while the rest either go for higher studies or pursue their startup.

The fees are also very justifiable considering the opportunities it provides and the facilities we get on the campus from internet facilities to food corners. The quality of teaching shows why the course fee is Rs.100000 per semester. But for financially weak students, it does provide various scholarships like MCM and fee waivers which we can avail of.

The annual fest in mining is KHANAN . Various books and journals are available in the central library of the ISM campus. It is also the 2nd largest library in India. The sports culture is also great. We do have inter-IIT fests and competitions. We have our clubs and even a boxing society. We have clubs in different backgrounds. Cyber labs-for software development and machine learning. Astronomy club. Robotics club. Manthan- music club and many more.

We are provided with a studying table, beds, chair, almirah, internet facility in hostels. The meal is okay and does have variety. We have nonveg food thrice a week. All students who take admission in the program are provided with a hostel facility. The fee for hostel accommodation and other facilities including the library, food, the dress is 20400. The locality is quite nice and lively. The campus is nicely protected from outsiders and has bus services to move within the campus.
