Honesty is my Policy

I applied for NIT Silchar because it was near to my home but when I spent some time there, I didn't find it to my expectation and so I went for Special Round. I come from the GENERAL category, so I didn't avail myself of any quota. The admission criteria were JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) with more than 75% score in higher secondary. The admission process was very smooth and I didn't have to go into any trouble. The only thing it lacked was some signboards to help the newcomers direct them to the building where the admission process will be conducted.

I chose this course because this was the only course I was getting within the rank I achieved in my JEE exam. Faculty: student ratio is very good as in my department it is 26:130, so yes I would say it's pretty good. Our HOD has teaching and research experience of more than 15 years. His research areas are Signal Processing, Audio Signal Processing, Instrumentation and Automation, Sensor and Actuator, Embedded System Design, and Mechatronics. He has industrial experience too. He has more than 15 publications. The term exams are held quarterly in a semester and if you have studied and paid attention in the class a little bit, you can easily score good marks.

There are lots of companies that come with internship opportunities for 3rd-year students and after the 4th semester, almost everyone is eligible for the internship opportunity. Some of the companies like Microsoft, Flipkart provide a lot of internship opportunities and the stipend is also very good. And at the end, it is highly likely that you will receive a PPO from the company after the completion of your internship.

After the 6th-semester students are eligible for campus placements. And for internships, students are eligible after the 4th semester. Many companies such as Microsoft, Flipkart, Oyo, Goldmann Sachs, Deliotte etc. comes for recruitment. The percentage of students getting placed is also very high. More than 50% of students get placed. My plan after completing a degree as for now is to get a job.

The fees are considered very high as compared to other NIT's and IIIT's but in the end, it's worth it. Scholarships are given based on merit, AIR in JEE, merit cum means, and compassionate grounds. Job placement is also decent, so it's neither good nor bad.

Classrooms are very, very good with such good infrastructure and amenities. Sports and extracurricular activities on campus are at their peak. You can play any sports you like and there are at least two grounds for every outdoor sport. There are more than 30 clubs including technical and cultural run by students.

You get your own desk and a bed to study and rest. Every room also has a LAN connection which has enabled sharing at a great speed. All hostels have WIFI connections too. Meal quality is very good with both VEG and non-VEG menu daily. The registration process is also very simple but affordability is a little high but in the end, I would say it's worth it. No off-campus staying is allowed unless it's an emergency case, all the students have to avail in-campus facilities only.
