A dream come true or just waste of time money and efforts?

I applied for BITS, VIT but did not attend those because of high fees. When I entered the SVNIT campus we were asked to vist the CCC in front of the Electrical Engineering Department to verify the details and for other admission processes. We were to submit the remaining fees and also were given the chance to enroll in Special Round. After depositing the fees and getting the fee slip we were asked to apply for hostel rooms. College doesn't allow students to select their roommate in the first year and there is a rule that every other state student must stay with a student from Gujarat in the first year. We were allotted rooms in the New Class Room Complex after we submitted the Hostel and mess advance fees.

I opted for Electrical Engineering Courses. The faculty members are really experienced but sometimes they really become strict which is good for students in various ways but they should show some leniency in some conditions which they don't. The faculty to student ratio is 1:25 which is pretty good. Some faculty members are not that good at teaching and even after complaining in the administration, no strict actions were taken from them. Exams are conducted 2 times in a semester of 5 months. Some of the questions papers are really framed in such a way that students get demotivated and most of them fail the really bad subject. Teachers should focus on knowledge instead of marks.

The companies which offer internships are JPMC, Mastercard, and many more with a good amount of stipend (10k approx). The professors also give research internships to various students depending on their interests during the summer.

From semester 3 students become eligible for campus placements but the college give us various opportunities of internship from 2nd year onwards. A few companies visited are Master Card, JPMC. Almost 75% of students are placed in the campus placement. I have decided to sit for placements after getting the degree

There are no fees hike policy and the cost to study is really expensive. The only financial Assistance is given to SC,ST students.

The campus life is great. We have SPARSH annual fest and MINDBEND technical fest. A big library with hundred of thousands of books and journals is really good for students. Classrooms also have proper facilities which make the lectures more interesting We have a lot of extracurricular activities like events, Competitions, Garba night which is really good for refreshments. Student Chapters include:- DRISHTI, ACM, CEV, SAE, CHRD, LAC, DSC.

The hostel rooms of the first years are really small dont have a proper storage area where we can store stuff and have to share it with the roommates. No proper lighting service is provided and the quality if food gradually decreases with time. some days we have special food but that is a rare case. The washrooms are cleaned regularly but the water is not available all the time.
