Remarks
CET (Bhubaneswar) and IGIT( Sarang) were my other preferences but my topmost choice has always been VSSUT as it is the best college for engineering in Orissa which grants a lot of opportunities and experiences to shape a better engineer. One can get admission to this institute based on their JEE and OUAT ranks.
Course Curriculum Overview
Mechanical engineering was the origin of VSSUT( Burla) and still is one of the expertise of this college. That's why it has always been my choice of branch. The ratio between boys and girls is better than other colleges which are 44:16 (in my year) making it more comfortable for the girls to adjust to the surroundings. For over 50 years this department has shine under the guidance of the faculty which are PhDs from IITs and NITs. The examination was always conducted according to the schedule but due to pandemics it got boggled up but the administration created its own app to conduct the online examinations.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities start to enter your path once you get admitted to this college. As a first-year, internships from CISCO, Infosys webinar, ReferenceGlobe, Flipr Hackathon 8.0, and many more opened up.
Placement Experience
People from the third year gain the eligibility to sit for the campus placements. VSSUT serves a whopping 70-80% of placements each year. Companies like Deloitte, Accenture, Infosys, Wipro, Tata Steel being common age in the placements with the highest package of 12-14 LPA and an average package of 6-7 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
As a government institution, the fee structure is quite good for an engineering college taking into account all the opportunities and experience it provides to the students. There are various scholarships like national scholarship, state loan stipend, post-matric scholarship for ST and SC, disable scholarship, and so on. One can apply for a scholarship if they desire and they can get it if they are capable of it. VSSUT also provides internships for one's better experience with a stipend of even more than 5000.
Campus Life
There is plenty of fests that are being held in VSSUT like samavesh( tech fest), Emouvoir( dramatic fest), Vassaunt (cultural fest), and many more. VSSUT not only entertains the students but also provides them with open knowledge. It has a three-storage building spreading over an area of 10,900 sq ft containing over 70,000 volumes and a home for 100 readers. The classrooms are huge some are even air-conditioned. There are also sports and clubs to keep up the adrenaline rush. One can join any club as they desire but they have to go through the selection procedure to become a member. There is NCC, yoga club, pool club, Veer racers, E-CELL, IIC, and many more to choose from. VSSUT is also the first university in India to set up a space innovation-cum-incubation centre with ISRO.
Hostel Facilities
In the first year, four girls have to share one room but as you enter the higher year the number minimizes to two. Fans, beds, and bookshelves in a room are given according to the number of people residing in it. Girls hostel of VSSUT serves a four-time meal including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. There are also some stores near the hostel to fulfil your monthly supplements. The registration for the hostels is done during the admission process only if any changes happen the institute notifies you. The hostel fee for a year is under 18000.
