Remarks
I had applied for MSRUAS for the automotive branch. The admission would be through management quota since the Karnataka PGCET exams were postponed due to the lockdown and I had given up hopes of writing the exam and getting a college through the same, being the reason for management quota. The dates were postponed again during which I had more preparation time to choose a college also the interest for aerospace engineering through PGCET. MSRUAS is seemingly far from where I stay. I had to invest a broad sense of perceived insight considering these conditions, NMIT (NITTE MEENAKSHI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY) was the most suited for a solution. The minimum marks for eligibility is not as strict but a 60% for a limit can be said fine. The admission process was through the K-PGCET, the dates were allotted online, also the selection process. After the document verification of attested copies, I chose NMIT as my first preference online. I was called to the college to submit the documents.
Course Curriculum Overview
I reviewed the course syllabus and thoroughly had a colorful sense of getting the stream topics, one of the reasons being related to Mechanical Engineering which I opted for BTech. It more or less seemed like a continuation, only that the subjects will be streamlined learning in relation to automotive engineering, one of my other interests. The students in many colleges for PG (tech) studies are considerably low around 15-20. I am in a class of 9 students. The faculty are very friendly, understanding and PhD holders, who are up to answer and help us in our projects. Also the library has a vast collecting of books the students can refer to, or ask for help from the teachers online as well. The monthly exams are conducted based on the students attending classes. Much of the information or study topics are found here in the usual classes one attends, to crack them. Due to the restrictions during the lockdown, a few were held online, otherwise, they are written exams.
Internships Opportunities
The internships and projects are based on the streams of related studies offered by the registered companies. The student can improvise skills on various subfields as well based on the approach to accumulate desired knowledge. Microsoft, Amazon L&T, Wipro, Infosys are a few such well-reputed companies and a hundred few others are linked/broadcasted by the college based on different streams (Software, Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, etc)
Placement Experience
For Mtech, the 2nd year, the students can apply for project-related internships. Usually, after 75% of the course completion, the students are eligible to apply for campus placements otherwise. Many well-known companies like Wipro, Infosys, L&T, Microsoft, Amazon etc. Offer jobs through NMIT being ranked 128 by NIRF (2020) usually offering a salary package of 3-5 L, also a few recorded students being offered over 8-10 LPA by the companies. Around 800 -900 of every 1000 registered students are offered placements. I will be applying for an internship first and work based on the same work area and field of study relating to the projects
Fees and Financial Aid
The college fees are 30000. 64000 has to be paid to the KEA dept. So a total of Rs.94000/- for the course per year. We can apply for scholarships as well. The college promises job placements as it is linked with many companies accomplishing job recruitments. Internships are also provided through the college with a stipend to enhance knowledge within the stream of study-related courses we have applied for. The course I have chosen is a complete labyrinth in itself. But considering the outside market and knowledge depth level, the companies are looking to hire, The college extends itself to support students crack the exams through experienced faculties, and things seem to be working just fine parallel in gain of knowledge. Financial support can be solicited by reasoning permission from the concerned authority. The college will look forward to the same.
Campus Life
Anaadyanta, a tech-cultural fest governs the college aura to the fullest around the month of March. Celebrities are called for performances and inaugurations and various cultural and tech activities are included. The library has a collection of books from many different authors, this includes a vivid range of MTech stream libraries. The lab equipment provided to conduct experiments are checked on a regular basis and decent provision of usage for students to understand the subject, the lecturers are always willing to explain the usage of the equipment, this is a personal experience. There are badminton courts, but the indoor badminton court is not used much, nor does the college provide the usage of the court as it is used only for tournaments by the college team and for their practice. The outdoor badminton court can be used but the air wind is almost a nuisance for serious badminton players. There are football goal posts and a small cricket arena as well. Instagram NMITbangalore
