Remarks

I applied for various colleges including the ones like Maharaja Surjmal, Maharaja Agrasen, etc but they were far away from my home. That's why I decided to go to Jagannath International Management School, Kalkaji. I was from the general category. Admissions in most of the courses offered by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasth University are entrance exam-based. Ranks are released after the exam and according to that, you take part in counseling. There are generally 3 counseling with a sliding round. You always have a chance to aim for a good college other than the one that is allotted to you based on the rank you scored. But once you freeze a seat you will only get a chance to aim for good college in the sliding round. Admission criteria are generally 10 + 2 with a 60% aggregate. After fulfilling all the required information and documents you need to go to your college to get your documents and information given verified by the college authority.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose bachelor of business administration keeping in mind my interest in marketing and human resource. I love to learn how dynamic the market environment is. It somewhat clears your path towards MBA as well because you would have the practical knowledge required in that specific field. BBA lets you explore market knowledge more extensively. At my college, the general student-faculty ratio is 25:1 which is good enough. All the professors have significant knowledge in their field. Many of the faculties have PhD degrees or are pursuing one. Most of the teaching material is provided by the teachers themselves. We depend on PowerPoint presentations because that's the main source of our study material. It is easy to learn from these presentations because we can access them anytime and anywhere we want. There are 2 types of exams basically Internal and External where internals generally consists of 25 marks and you compete on the college level but in externals, you compete at the university level.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

As we have a placement society at our college we never run out of internships. Faculty members, as well as members of the placement society, work together in order to bring the best for students. All semester students are eligible for internships. Internship drives run by placement society help students a lot to gain practical knowledge. They bring new and interesting internships and work actively throughout the year. Usually, startups are easier to bring to the college for internships. In the recent internship drive organizations like Atrasaki, SkillShare, CollegeDunia, etc were invited to offer valuable internships to students. The stipend available is around 5 to 20 thousand but that too is sometimes performance-based. It is compulsory for the students of the 5th semester to do one internship for at least 2 months as it is part of the curriculum. These internships provide a boost to student's careers.

Placement Experience

4.5

We have a placement society at our college where the faculties, as well as around 30 members of the society, work together in order to provide the students with different placement opportunities. Society is very active throughout the year to provide the best opportunities to the students. Last semester that is 6th-semester students is eligible to get placement through college drives. It usually starts around September. Companies like Amazon, Godrej, Deloitte, Asain paints, Decathlon, Kent, etc come to our college to offer placements to the students who are eligible. The success rate is usually 90%. The average salary of an undergraduate program passes out to students is 4 to 5 lakhs. As college also works to call companies for PGDM students, their salary ranges somewhere between 8 to 9 lakhs per annum. The highest salary package grabbed by one of the students from PGDM was 17.5 lakhs per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of the whole BBA program are around 3 to 3.5 lakhs for 3 years. The fees don't change much. It remains around 1 lakh per year. You can estimate the cost to study around 4 lakhs approximately including all the expenses. Yes, fees are somewhat higher than other colleges but this provides you with a perfect base and knowledge too so it's worth it at the end. The university provides different kinds of scholarships. They keep on forwarding the mails regarding scholarships to all the students so that the eligible students can avail the benefit. I too applied for a scholarship named as merit cum means scholarship scheme. Though it is not from the university government of Delhi but the information was provided to us by the university. College plays a big role because the administration department is the one who verifies all your documents. I never faced any issues from the side of college. The administration department at JIMS, kalkaji is very supportive. They will help you for sure.

Campus Life

4

Every year Zest - the cultural fest is organized by JIMS. All branches of JIMS participate in this fest. Students compete on different levels. There are different types of activities performed like a Singing duet, Singing solo, Group dance, Duet dance, Cultural dance forms, Dramatics, and fashion show. It increases the level of self-confidence and increases the spirit of brotherhood among students as well. An annual fest known as ANUGOONJ is also organized by the university but that is obviously on the university level where every college competes to ace. There are various cultural societies that are run by students like dramatics, singing, dancing, debating, placement, NSS/Rotaract, etc. At least 2 teachers are assigned with one society for the assistance so that it can run smoothly. Regular meetings with these faculties are aranged so as to keep the society lively. Societies also help other socities within the college to ace every compeitition.

Placements at my college are average, students become eligible from around the 5th semester. A few companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in entry level positions. The average package is moderate, while higher package are limited. Around 70 to 80% of students get placed. I plan to focus on skill development and explore better opportunities after completing my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant as it contains useful concepts which a management student should know. And the concepts are very comprehensive and easy to understand. Examples are given in the curriculum which prepares us for the real world. Some teachers use the presentation based teaching which is good and should be encouraged. The exams are not that difficult for one who is atleast decent in studies.
