My College: Through the eyes of an average student.

The admissions in GGSIPU is based on IPU-CET rank. I used to regularly visit the university website. I got admission through the open spot counselling round. On the counselling day, I was supposed to be present on the university campus, Dwarka. After one level of verification of documents, I waited for my rank to be called for the counselling process. A screen displayed seats left in different courses of IPU affiliated colleges. They were calling out the range of rank and students were assembling for further verifications and enrolment to a college. The screen was updated to show the remaining seats left. They directed selected students for payment of counselling fee and generation of provisional admission slip. It was one day process. The next day I joined the college and submitted photocopies of the 10th and 12th marksheet and provisional certificate the following week.

I chose the course as I had an interest in the field of Instrumentation. The teacher to student ratio was appropriate in our college. Most of the faculty were pursuing their PhD along with teaching. The teachers had varying teaching method. Some used to give open ended question to think about. Some had a good hold in the subject they taught and generated interest in students to study the subject. Most of them were like school teachers. The term exam date sheet and question paper were provided by the university. They were conducted as per the orders of the university. The difficulty to pass the exam was dependent on the subject and questions being asked. Subjects like electrical machines, control system, circuit and system have vast subject matter and tough questions can be framed easily.

I got the internship through off campus drive. I was not aware that the college was also providing internship opportunities to the students. Most of the internship were remote /online kind. There were different types of internship provided in the field of academics like answer writing, sales and marketing, software development, enrolment in online course etc.

From the seventh semester, students become eligible for campus placement. The highest package during my time was 30 lakh per annum and the average package was 3 lakh per annum. The profile offered is an associate engineer and graduate trainee. After getting a degree, I will do the job I got through campus placement.

The fee was fixed and was told right at the beginning of the course. I didn't get any scholarship or financial assistance. Some students got financial assistance in my college. I got an internship off campus. I got to know very late that college is also giving opportunity for an internship.

An annual fest was conducted in April. It was usually a two day event. It was only conducted in my first and second year of college. Our college library had old edition books. Their condition was also not good. Few journals were present. The classroom had all amenities. A sports event was organised every year. Many students used to participate in various sports. There were many clubs run by students namely, aset-SAE, Aset-IEEE, Wordsworth - A literary society, music and dance society, I-Cell to name a few.
