A Roller Coaster Ride

The main process of getting into this college is through various entrance exams like WBJEE, JEE Mains, and CEE-AMPAI. CEE-AMPAI is the entrance exam conducted by JIS Group which consists of physics, chemistry, and mathematics like JEE. The minimum criteria for admission procedure are having a minimum of 45% in board exams and a rank in either JEE, WBJEE, or AMPAI. I got into this college by counselling of WBJEE and preferred this college since this is nearest to my home. The necessary documents needed for the admission procedure are various documents and mark sheets. The documents needed for this procedure are given on the college website.

I am currently studying Computer Science & Engineering in this college. When it comes to my experiences, I would always say that the faculty members have been a great support and very friendly to us. The total intake of the CSE department is 120 students where 5-6 students are lateral who get admission in the 2nd year. The faculty members are really helpful towards the students and they are available whenever in doubt. The student: faculty ratio in the department of CSE is 10:1. The department of CSE receives the highest placement in the whole college. And The department also conducts various webinars, seminars, and competition to gain extra circular activities.

College provide various internships through internshala, and some startup companies. In the 3rd year a company named Highradius will come to provide internship and give training on ML and AI, And a 3rd year mini project and 4th year project is to be done where topics will be provided by college.

TCS, Wipro, Capgemini are the major recruiter from this college and they offer good salary packages starting from around 3-4 LPA till 12 LPA and varies from it. For the 21 batches, the placement was less as compared to other years, but amidst the pandemic, the placement of the CSE department was around 75%. But the other departments had very few placements and other startup companies were a part of this placement. Overall you need to be very smart and good in studies to get a placement from this college.

The fee structure is available on the college's official website. The college takes a fee of about 80k in the first semester and then it varies from 40-45k in other semesters. The college provides various scholarships during the admission process, also, if a student is having a TFW certificate he or she can study paying just Rs 5000 per semester.

The college is very spacious as compared to other colleges and we organize two types of the fest, a technical fest and a cultural fest where that time all the students engage and enjoy the fest and the fest goes for 2 days. The classrooms are spacious too with separate benches and an auditorium. Various clubs are there to engage with students like coding club and media club etc which helps to bring the personality of a student. Also, GNIT has a good sporting environment. An annual sports meet along with various cricket, football and basket competitions are held here.
