Tushar Pandya's Review On L.D. College Of Engineering - [LDCE], Ahmedabad

I enrolled in BE EC evening classes after doing Diploma in Electronics and Radio Engineering from TEB Gujarat in the year 1995. This is a 2 & 1/2 hear diploma after HSC. At my time admissions were based on state level merit list and no entrance exams were asked for.

Very good, same as regular BE EC, only difference is that it starts from the second year of regular full time BE EC class as the content of first year is already covered in the Diploma course.

As far as I know, no internship is provided by this college. All the faculty have to have minimum qualification as mandated by state government and not lab assistant work is provided.

For the evening classes I had enrolled there is no need for placement opportunities as the candidates are expected to be already working somewhere in the industry. For the other classes LD college of engineering does provide lots of campus placement opportunities and industrial training and internship training as part of course with leading industry houses in the near by areas.

For the evening classes there were not much activities to be done besides study as all the students have their daily life and work.But for full time students, there are many events held including all typical days (teachers day, rose day, etc) .The college and student bodies also organise annual day functions with lots of cultural activities.

This is a government run college so fees are very minimal. I was charged per semester around 1500 Rs for tuition fees and lab fees. There was additional examination fees of Rs 300 per semester. This way total fees was about 1800 Rs per semester.

There were some scholarship available from state government but I do not have good idea about them. I do not believe the college is providing any loan or have tie up with any banks to do it. However many banks are now doing student loan in India.

Campus life is subjected to your own personal ways of living. I think there is separate boys hostel and girls hostel and diversity ration between male and female students is balanced. However in certain engineering branch it can be very unbalanced as well either way.

There are exams after each semester for practical and theory both. Such exams are conducted for each subject. Mostly these exams are conducted by faculty from other colleges to keep discipline. Generally the faculty takes exams after each major chapter of the course but they are not very hard on you if you do pay attention during the class.

All the faculties are appointed by stage government in this college and most of them are very senior and experienced one in their field. There were some newly hired faculty also along with senior people and it does bring in fresh blood and ways of teaching which benefits both generations.
