My Experience at VELS, Chennai

The reasons for which I took admission into this college was its placement rate and the eminent visitors that pay a visit to our campus every year and offer jobs with good CTC. Also, our university is accredited by NAAC with Grade 'A'. Further, it is approved by AICTE and ranked 49 in South India among private B-Schools by Business world,The academic structure is good and there are so many committees formed for different purposes and clubs for our exposure. And most importantly, the fee structure is 5 lakhs for two years which is too low as compared to other colleges. For admission, I met the counsellor, filled the application form in the month of April and made the payment of the application fee. Furthermore, based on the marks obtained in management entrance test i.e. CAT, I got shortlisted and was called for Personal Interview and lastly, I got into this University for pursuing MBA program.

The syllabus of the MBA program is prescribed by the Board of studies of the university. The course curriculum comprises of the core courses, elective courses and Value-added programs and activities as well for our development. Now, the value-added programs include workshops,video screening, seminars, management games business quizzes, paper presentation and the rest. Also, our college believes in the concept of 'experience the reality' and so, the industrial visit is the most important part of the course curriculum.The teaching learning process involves the latest technologies and adoptions. The pedagogy not only focus on endowing the theoretical knowledge but also enriched with hands-on experience. The faculty of our college are well experienced and qualified and they imparts knowledge through classroom lectures and extra sessions which is supported by paper presentation, case analysis, industry quiz, seminars, Group Discussions and so on. Above all, career development programs are organized to amplify our human skills, interpersonal skills, managerial skills, leadership qualities, conceptual skills, analytical skills, and others.

Our leading recruiters that visit every year to our campus and participate in the placement session are L&T Infotech, Tata Consultancy Services, Indiamart, Cognizant, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra and so forth. Moreover, the average package witnessed the previous year was 4 LPA whereas the highest CTC of 8 LPA was received. Also, around 80% seniors from our department got placed last year in leading companies across the country.Now, post completing the MBA program from here, I have made up my mind to join a company, will face the challenges and get to learn new things there. And if possible, will later go for higher studies as well.

The fee structure for MBA in marketing at VELS University is 5 lakhs including admission fee, tuition fee, registration fee, SAP, and insurance. Moreover, the hostel charge and food expenses were not included and I paid extra amount for it. Also, for MBA program, there is scholarship scheme in which those who acquire 60% and above marks in the undergraduate and a pass in VEE i.e. VELS Entrance Exam get 10% concession in the tuition fee for 1 year merely.Besides, rank holders in management competitive exam such as CAT and MAT get the scholarship get waiver in tuition fee for 1 semester only. However, the criteria and percentage of waiver in tuition fee differs as per the score obtained in CAT/MAT exam.

In my college campus, there are so many things to do as we have different clubs like Vels Rockers which is a dance club, Short Film and Photography club, Music Club, Tamil Literary club and others. Also, the events or activities that are conducted by the club members include Vels - Cultural Nakshatra, women's Day celebration, international fitness and sports conference, celebration of festivals, seminars, and many others. So, there are the top reasons for having such happening and thrilling campus life. Apart from this, there are so many facilities which are given to us in the college campus and those are library facility, hostels, sports complex, modern classrooms, seminar halls, swimming pool, cafeteria, internet connection and others.
