Remarks
I did not apply for any quota. I got admission through WBJEE Counselling. After the WBJEE Results were published the government counselling procedure started. The cut-off rank for Information Technology was around 38000. After the first round of Counselling, I got my seat allotment in GNIT under the Department of Information Technology. I had to secure my seat by making a payment of Rs.500. After that, I got the provisional allotment letter. After getting my documents verified I was allowed to visit my college. There were several other colleges on my wishlist but after first counselling, I thought GNIT would be better as it is one of the top private engineering colleges in Kolkata under the JIS Group of Institutions and also reputed. Moreover, the distance from my college to home was not much. It takes 30 minutes to reach. There are several ways of transportation to reach my college. That's why I opted for GNIT. The overall admission process was clean and clear.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am pursuing B.Tech in Information Technology since IT is one of the topmost required profession in India and as well as abroad. Moreover, there are numerous job offers available in this field. The faculty: student ratio is 1:10. The faculty members are knowledgeable and help the students by all means. Exams and assignments are taken quite often. We have our semester exams and also Unit Tests and Lab practical examination.
Internships Opportunities
Internshala offers various internship programmes for students. Also, Campus Ambassador programmes and summer internship programmes are also available for students to earn while they are studying. Tech Companies like High RAdius also offered students this year internship opportunities in technical as well as business fields.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students are eligible for campusing. Students are placed in Companies like TCS, Capgemini, Accenture, Wipro, Amazon, Deloitte, Persistent, etc. Around 70-80% of the students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees of my course are around Rs.400000 (approx) and are well divided among each semester. I did not apply for any scholarship or financial assistance but our college provides financial aid to students with the financial crisis. Camping starts from the 7th semester and most of the students get their placements.
Campus Life
Every year we have our Annual fest named Zysvva in the month of February and Techfest in the month of March. Both inter and intra college participation is allowed. There is a library in our college which provides us with our course-related books and also with necessary other books. Previous years question papers are also available in the library. Moreover, E-journals and e-magazines are also published on our college website. We also have our Annual Sports Day in the month of December or January. Apart from this Teacher's Day and Fresher's Welcome are also celebrated. Classrooms are spacious and airy.
