Remarks

I applied for NIT Durgapur, Heritage institute of technology, Academy of Technology, Techno India Salt Lake but after that, I felt that Guru Nanak institute of technology was perfect for me because its previous placement records were satisfactory since it is located in sodepore and it was at a good distance from my home, but after taking admission in it, my experience wasn't that much good at least because in my department there was very less number of students, however, their facilities are very good, you will not face any issues while taking admission, it will be a very smooth process, about placement they provided really good assistance for final year students and many IT companies came and recruited us like Capgemini, ITC, Hexaware but to be honest no core company visited our college

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I studied electronics and instrumentation, but to be honest, be taking admission in this department I didn't even hear, I visited this college to take admission in ECE but since there were very few students in EIE they told me that there are no seats left in ECE or any other department and insisted me to choose it since both ECE and EIE have so much in common, and I thought if I get more than 8.5 cgpa I can change my stream after the first year, but it didn't happen. Some of the teachers were highly qualified and experienced and some of them were not so much experienced although they were good. Few teacher's English wasn't that good I felt that. Exams were rightly timed and were managed really well however in my experience seating arrangement was the same in all four years i.e I used to sit on the second bench. The difficulty of examinations was not too much, if you study even 1 day before the exam you can at least easily get the passing marks but scoring is difficult in the first yr.

Internships Opportunities

3

There were companies like cognizant, Infotech who provided internships generally for the post of Analyst after recruiting someone. But it totally depends on the companies whether they will provide an internship or not, faculty provided quite good assistance for training and paid internships(you have to pay).

Placement Experience

4

Campus placement assistance is quite good provided by the college, placement generally starts from 7th semester and you will be eligible for many companies if you got 60% in class 10 and 12 average salary package was approx 3.2 LPA which is good for a fresher. Almost 30-40 % of students were placed in each department, if your from cse/it you will easily get a job in some IT company. However if you are looking for a job in core sector ( non IT) then this college is not for you. You can definitely go for higher studies after completing the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure for this course was fixed, at my time it was 4 lakh approx, before every semester you have to pay the semester fees in Demand Draft only for which the faculty gives a deadline to pay the fees, however, if you pay after the deadline you will have to pay fine for each day (50) which I didn't liked. There were almost no scholarship opportunities or financial assistance for students, placement assistance was impressive from placement department they provided special training for placements for different companies like soft skill, aptitude. Average package was 3.25 lpa.

Campus Life

3

Social life at the campus was really nice because, on the first day of my college I was expecting ragging from seniors but in my whole college duration I didn't saw any ragging in the campus p.s I don't know about hostels. Books in the library were good and were available for everyone, I didn't actually take any extra book from the library, about sports there is a common ground for all the students including engineering, BCA, mca, hotel management, pharmacy even dental. Every year an inter-college Cricket tournament takes place which I really liked, every year Tech fest is organised by students of GNIT where you will not find any celebrities like other colleges. Tech fest also used to be organised and participants of different colleges used to visit and took part

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facilities for boys were not that much satisfactory, I didn't use to live in the hostel but all my friends left the hostel after completing the very first year, the hostel food was also not that good, however, for girls, the hostel facilities are quite good. The registration process was very easy you just had to talk to the Registrar Sir about affordability I think it was quite expensive as per services provided by them, you can easily find many PG near the college at very affordable rates all of my friends used to live in PG.

Other Applied Colleges

My WBJEE rank was not enough

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
