My experience as a fresher in NIT Jalandhar

I have applied for many IITs and NITs under the general category through CSAB online counseling rounds due to Covid-19 pandemic situations through which I got a seat in chemical engineering in Dr.B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar and admission was purely based on JEE Mains ranks

I chose chemical engineering because I always wanted and explore different domains out there and always heard of chemical engineering being a less curriculum intense branch and less burdensome so the branch gave me better space to explore whatever I want than any other branch. The student-faculty ratio is 20:1 and teachers are well qualified and have a minimum degree of masters and many have PHD level degree in their respective fields . Due to covid the end semester exams were conducted in online mode and were moderate level

Big Companies like Flipkart, Samsung, etc. provide internships to students for a period of 3-8 months. Students can apply for internships either at the end of 2nd year or the mid of 3rd year of their degree Project done by a student in these internships helps them to enhance their skills and build their resume for their better preferences while searching for jobs.

From 6 semester students are eligible for campus placements. Over 200+ companies visit the NITJ campus including big corporates like Facebook, Amazon, Google, and many more. The highest Package last year went to about 42+ lakhs and the average package is about 7-8 lakhs. around 80-85% percent of students get placed every year on campus. My plans are get placed in top corporates after the completion of my degree

The fees hike policy of the institute is moderate and fees is also much lesser than other private and government institutes and also have fee structure as per students from different economic backgrounds to incentise their family to get their child into the college.The institute provides all the scholarships approved by central government.

There are 2 annual fests organized by our institute namely Utkansh in the odd semester and the other is Techniti in the even semester. The library has around 40k+ books 600+ journals which can be availed any time from the institute library. Classrooms are moderately furnished having basic seating arrangements and a ventilation system. Sports infrastructure is not very well equipped but is under improvement for a long time. There are many societies and clubs for various student activities and interests ranging from sports, art, culture, and technology.
