SurTech: A college with a Vision

I didn't apply for any other colleges as I was an Automobile Enthusiast from my school days. I studied Diploma in Automobile Engineering for the Academic Session 2016-2019. So, understanding the infrastructures available at this Institute helped me to select this college for my B.Tech. As the Lab Facility available at this Institute is of real quality, I preferred this college over other Institutes. I didn't avail any quota during admission. There is no such minimum or maximum age for Lateral Admission in Automobile Engineering. The minimum mark to avail of this program is 40% in Diploma. The Admission Counselor of our Institute helped me to fill up the Admission form, where I had to provide my educational and personal details. There was no such counseling day, as I took a direct admission to our Institute. So, it was a rather simple process of submitting the form and paying the admission fees.

I was an automobile freak from my school days and as I had studied Diploma in Automobile Engg., from this same institute, I decided to pursue my higher studies in the same institute and the same course, as all the infrastructure was very good. As per the AICTE guidelines, the student faculty ratio should be 15:1. Our department maintains a ratio of 1:15 following the guidelines. The faculties are really qualified and some of them are pursuing Ph.D. The teaching method during this Pandemic is really fantastic as they have updated themselves to teach us by demonstrating videos, images, and models. A new LMS is currently being used, from where we can get all the study materials (Notes, PPT's. Video Lectures, Assignments, and Solutions) in one go. The internal class tests are conducted every week on Saturday for different subjects in the LMS. The Slot Tests/ Term exams are conducted twice in a semester.

We have a tie-up with INTERNSHALA, where we apply for different Internships. Last Year, from the Department itself, we had worked on a project to develop a Solar and Hybrid Vehicle. Apart from INTERNSHALA, we register ourselves in the AICTE-TULIP Portal, from where we can get other opportunities also. Just a few days back, an Internship Drive was conducted by ELEATION, a Design-Based Start-Up from which five students of our batch were selected for the Internships. They will work on Computer-Aided Design.

From the 6th semester onwards, the students become eligible for placement. Mostly the top software companies like TCS, INFOSYS, CAPGEMINI, WIPRO, HUWAEI along with start-up giants like BYJU's, REPOSE ENERGY PVT. LTD comes for placements. Along with that many companies like TOUJOURS PERITUS visit our campus. HYUNDAI is a regular as we have a Tie-Up with them. The highest package offered this year was by BYJU's which was 10 LPA. The average package offered i snearabout 3-3.5 LPA. Moreover, 75-85% of students get placed every year from our college. My plan is to get a job in the Automotive Sector and excel there after getting the B.Tech Degree.

The total course fee to study AUE in our institute is 2.92 Lakhs. As I was an Internal student, I received a scholarship of 10000/semester, which made the total fees come down to 2.32 Lakhs. When compared with all other colleges, the fees are comparatively less and thereafter it becomes affordable. Because of the Pandemic and Lockdown, there hasn't been any fees hike. I haven't observed any fees hike during my Diploma Years also. Apart from the JIS Scholarship to the Internal Diploma students, there are provisions of other scholarships also. Like Aikashree, Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship, and Oasis. For more details, you can visit the website of SurTech also. The college also helps by providing all necessary documents during the Bank Loan. As I wanted to continue my higher studies, I refused the job, which I got from the Institute. I got a job in Tailbros where many other students were placed also.

Our college is located at a convenient place with all modes of Transportation availability. The campus is green and lushly with a beautiful football stadium in it. Wi-Fi is available everywhere. It is a Ragging Free campus. Since our college promotes a disciplined lifestyle, all sorts of unethical activities are prevented. Manthan, the Tech Fest is conducted every year in the month of March. In this pandemic, it was conducted virtually. The Cultural Fest, Sparsh, is conducted in the month of April. Nearly 45,000 books are available in our Library. We can issue Reference Books apart from the books given through the BOOk BANK system. Now, the E-Books are being distributed. JIS also conducted a Book distribution drive to deliver books at our doorsteps. For our overall development, Sports, Quizzes, Debates, Cultural programs are conducted regularly. We have an SAE Collegiate Club, from where we can participate in National Level competitions like SAE Baja and SAE Efficycle.
