All About VIT

I applied for VITEEE Haldia Institute of Technology(WBJEE), IEM(WBJEE) and some colleges of COMEDK. I was selected for all the colleges. Firstly, I applied for VITEEE. I got a decent rank there and on comparing with the other colleges I applied, it was the most decent college among all. I got good ranks in other colleges of WBJEE and COMEDK which I applied but I refused to go there. I was well satisfied with VIT University. I talked to my relatives who had studied in VIT. They also told about the well infrastructure, NIRF ranking and placements of the college. No I don't avail any quota. Admission criteria included an aggergate of 60% Marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.According to my knowleadge, I didn't notice any age barrier. After rank was declared on 29th April, 10 days after my counselling was there at Vellore on 10th May. There categories were given. We had to chose course based on rank itself. We had to chose our subjects based on rank and categories itself.

From class 12 itself, I had an interest in Electrical Circuits. From then, I made my mind and started focusing on Electronics itself. Other reason was that my relatives also had taken electronics in their B.Tech.They use to guide me throughout how are they doing. A very good faculty student ratio in which most of the faculties teach Computer Science core followed by Electronics and communication. The number of students is also much higher in the CSE department than in any other branch. Most of the faculties teaching here are having Doctorates degrees. These include Associate professors, Assistant professors juniors and Seniors. Faculties from our college teach nicely and make the student understand every concept but some faculties are there who start slowly and rush at the end. They use the blackboard, presentations as the mode of teaching. They give assignments and quizzes regularly to check progress. Exams are held once a month almost. Question level is moderate to pass and score well.

According to my, from 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements. Good and higher rated companies visit our campus such as Microsoft, Appydynamics, Amazon,udaan, PayPal etc. visits our campus. I am sharing the latest data of our college.659 companies visited our campus last year. Out of which,195 were for PGs and 464 for UGs.The highest package was from Microsoft with 44 lakhs LPA. As of 30th April, 2021,5232 students got placed in these companies. The number of Dream offers offered was 859 overall. Out of which,805 was for UGs.There was 1703 dream offers offered, out of which 1485 was for UGs.The average placements statistics jumped from 6.05 LPA to 7.25 LPA. The top recruiter's list includes companies such as Intel, Amazon, e-bay, Texas instruments and Hitachi. The star recruiter was Microsoft among all.

Fees are decided based on the category you fall in. Based on the rank, You are given a time slot for counselling. First of all, the first category opens for all the students and students who got good ranks to occupy that place. After the first category is over in any subject, it is followed by the second category and so on. The first category has a fee of 195000 for one academic year followed by the second category and so on. So if you have a rank under 10000, it is more probable that you will get the first category. You can apply for any VIT branch in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati. Education loan facility is provided by the college for the students who need financial assistance, who are unable to pay a heavy amount. It is provided so that money does not hide talent and opportunities. VIT University has a good placement record. Here is 2020-21 statistics. There was a total of 9020 offers from the campus out of which 6988 was for UGs and 2032 was for PGs.The highest package was 44 lakhs PA for years 2020-21.

Our college has a rich heritage in clubs and student chapters. Tech fest and club programs are almost there weekly. Music and dramatics clubs are the most active clubs here. The library is also very large. It contains almost all types of reference books, novel books and biography. We can withdraw 3 books at a time maximum. Classrooms are large in size where screen projection is available for faculties are available in every class. Our college has a sports room which contains every game. Students can avail all these facilities by submitting their college Id card while taking the equipment. We have games organised by clubs. Every year we have Techno VIT and Vibrance where students enjoy making these events a successful one for everyone. Vibrance is our main annual fest where some famous personalities are invited. Our Music Club is very nicely run by students. Also,o our dramatics club is run by our seniors. Like these, many clubs and student chapters are there.

Our two bedded rooms have one fan, a proper almirah, a table and a chair, a shelf rack and a bed for a single individual. Similarly for the second individual of the room. Three and four bedded rooms have bunker beds. It contains an attached table, bed and almirah. It had fans beside the bunker beds. The quality of the meal is average only. Veg and non-veg items are depending on the choices of students. We have three messes-Special, veg and non-veg. We have samosa, sandwiches, veg rolls in our evening snacks. Non veg food contains chicken and eggs. They give non-veg thrice a week in the messes. Veg food is common for all. Hostel registrations are done at the time of academic fees. The fees for the messes and hostel lodging is high and it would be great if they curtail the amount. We can choose either of the three messes. Generally, we used to order the food from nearby restaurants and hotels. Now, in the pandemic, we don't need to pay any amount for hostels and messes which is a great boon for us.
