UEM HONEST REVIEW

I have applied in some of the top-rated private colleges in Bengal like the IEM and Techno India. Getting into these colleges is quite difficult as they have a tight cutoff but getting admission in UEM is not that much difficult. So i chose to take admission in UEM only. The eligibility criteria for getting admission in UEM are:- 1) students have to secure more than 60% in their 10+2 board exams 2)Must have a rank of less than 15000 in your West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. 3)Must have valid identity proof. I visited the college for an inquiry of the admission process. The college authority requested me to submit my admit card and certificates of past achievements. And based on my marks, merits and past achievements the college offered me a seat in the biotechnology course. I was very happy and lucky to get a chance for admission in this college.

I have chosen this course because Biotechnology provides you the opportunity to enhance your research skills in using biological principles and systems to create new products, services, and industries. Also, biotechnology will equip you with skills and knowledge that are very attractive to prospective employers. Our college has a student to faculty ratio of 1:23 The education group believes that a combination of good teachers and good students is the basic and most important aspect of achieving academic excellence. The faculty members of our college consist of professors from renowned institutes such as NITs and IIIT Bangalore. The faculty members provide both emotional and physical support to the students and always maintain a good relation with them.

The department of biotechnology has aimed in imparting quality research-based internships to the students in the diverse field of biotechnology and biological sciences. The internship will focus in the development of the interns by inculcating the true sense of quality findings. The department focuses in the following field of internship:- 1) Bioremediation of wastewater and soil. Stipend-3000 every month for a period of 4 months. 2)Food tech-related work. Stipend-3000 per month for a period of 4 months. 3) waste utilization for product development. Stipend-4000 per month for a period of 3 months and many more other internship opportunities.

Actually from 7th-semester students become eligible for campus placements. Work India, Appdynamics, Udaan, PayPal, Tata Motors, Qualcomm, and several other companies hire hundreds of students every year. The highest package offered is 16 lakhs per annum by TCS and the lowest package offered is 5.1 lakhs per annum. Almost 75-85 percent of the students get recruited during the campus placements.

The fees charged by UEM for my 4 years biotechnology course is nearly 5 lakhs and there is no hike in fees from the past 3 to 4 years. Moreover, students with more than 90 percent in their 12 th boards marks get a minimum scholarship of 20-25%, and every year approximately 35 percent of the total students enrolled get the benefits of these scholarships. They also provide special scholarships for students.

Gravitas is UEM's annual technological and design carnival. This festival is an endeavor to provide a platform for all individuals to showcase their innovative projects and ideas. Our college has a library consisting of a central library and other departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching and learning programs of the institute. The library has almost more than 135000 books and journals and the database of books is available in the library and is updated on a day-to-day basis. UEM believes that education isn't confined to academic excellence, but extends to the overall development of a student. To facilitate this our college conducts various events and workshops. Riverra, the annual international Sports and cultural fest, is one of the major events that give our students a platform to showcase and shape their talents in various technical and managerial areas. The four-day extravaganza is a celebration of dance, drama, debate, literature art, and culture.

The facilities that are available in the hostel complex are transport facilities, in-house laundry, storeyed library, in-house mentorship support, indoor stadium sports facilities, and a large gymnasium. Candidates who desire to take admission in the hostel must approach the hostel Admission Desk in the office immediately after securing admission in the college to fill/generate an Online hostel application form. This should be deposited along with a self-attested copy of the following documents - The college fee receipt, class XII marksheet and residence certificate issued by a compliment local authority. The hostel complex has well-maintained gardens placed out by a majestic bottle palm line pathway.
