Remarks
I applied to PEC through JAC counseling and the criteria for admission was JEE Mains Score. There were cutoffs for admission to different programs being offered. We were supposed to do choice filling for the branch we want to opt-in and then there was physical verification of our document meets in the PU auditorium on some given date. The process was easy and there were volunteers to help us out.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course I chose was Electronics and Communication Engineering. The faculty in our college is decent, most of them have PHDs. The faculty to student ratio is close to 1:10. Their teaching method is fairly average. Exams are conducted on time even during these covid conditions exams were held on priority.
Internships Opportunities
We have internships in our 6th semester and companies like Microsoft, arcesium, come on campus to hire people for internships. Internships are compulsory and they constitute one entire semester of our degree program.
Placement Experience
Placements are good and almost all of the students get placed from circuital branches. Big tech companies visit the campus and offer high-paying jobs. The highest package offered was 42 lac per annum and the average for college falls around 6-7 lac.
Fees and Financial Aid
A decent fee hike is there every year. Financial Aids and scholarships are also provided to eligible students. We have scholarships for both meritorious students as well as for economically weaker students. Job opportunities here are really great, a lot of big companies like Microsoft, Western Digital, PhonePay etc visits to campus and provide high-paying jobs to students.
Campus Life
Being situated in the heart of Chandigarh, our college provides for a great social life. We also host one of the biggest Tech and Cultural Fest of North India namely PECFEST, in the month of November. Classrooms are also fully equipped with smart boards to provide for a better learning experience. Sports is also a prominent feature of PEC, with all the facilities available for students to play and participate in the intra and inter-college tournaments. We have a cricket ground, football field, swimming pool, a gymnasium with badminton courts, a squash court, and a new tennis court. Also, every hostel has its own badminton and volleyball courts along with a table tennis setup.
Hostel Facilities
Two out of the four boys' hostels have a newer architecture with modern washrooms. The meal quality is not very great but good enough. Hostels are affordable and available to everyone who is not from tricity.
