The best 4 years of my life as an OEC

Overall Orissa engineering college has made a remarkable change in my academic life. It has provided its best it can do. Those 4 years were like golden period for us.

I took OJEE (Orissa joint entrance exam) got 1100 rank. I was interested to become a software engineer. So choose btech in computer science. OEC is the 1st private engineer college in orissa so it proud to be a part of it.

College help in providing internship to its student but it was only for core branch. Companies like nalco,vedanta etc were organizing summer internship. The company either looks at it as their social responsibility and in such cases does not invest too much of their resources to make it really worthwhile experience for the student,or looks at it as an opportunity to find more about the students so that a pre-placement offer can be made to them. So they save the cost of recruitment,the attrition in this group is likely to be low (since most campuses will not allow students with PPO to sit in interviews for other companies) and the chances of a poor hiring are low,since they have been able to judge students over a long period of time as opposed to a couple of hours in a campus placement scenario. But there were no stipend. Internship were meant to gain experience. So summer internships are useful to both sides to some extent. However the value of summer internships is limited on both sides. While it helps the companies to recruit later on they any way have to go through the process of recruitment for finding interns. The only difference is that they can be a bit more relaxed since it is possible to say no to them after the internship.

Our College has consistently placed students in reputed national and multinational companies. The number of companies visiting the campus has increased over the years. we are on the most of the top companies that visit the state each year. Our students have performed exceedingly well over the years helping us to cement our relationship with the recruiters. Alumni network is really very extensive and have been helping rigorously in placing the students. Training and Placement department of OEC has been very active throughout its history. Companies ranging from Microsoft,Yamaha Motors,Bosch,TVS Motors,AMW group,Ashok Leyland,TCS,Infosys,Wipro,CSC,L&T,Vedanta group, IMFA,Essar Group and many such prestigious organizations have been visiting the campus for recruitment purposes. Average package figures have tentatively ranged in the zone of 2.8 LPA to 3.5 LPA throughout. Average batch placement always hovers around 90-95% mark.

Every year Orissa Engineering College organizing a techfest named Zazen. The fest projects the importance of strong Indigenous research as the key to scientific glory for the country. One can only dream unless he makes them into reality. Some of the events at Zazen are Paper Presentation,Wet Paint,Robotics,Business Related Events,Gaming, Enovation,Electrical & Electronics Related Events. Every Year Orissa Engineering College organizing a Annualfest named Zephyr. The fest projects the importance of strong Indigenous research as the key to scientific glory for the country.One can only dream unless he makes them into reality. Some of the events at Zephyr are Rodies, Song & Music,Fashion Show,Drama By Students and Staffs,T-Shirt Painting, Rock Band. Orissa Engineering College organize an annual Open Quiz Competition each and every year.The Quiz Competition was held among different teams having three members in each team. An ample amount of prize was distributed among the participants. This type of events are organized by our college to encourage the youth to prosper their internal knowledge.

A scholarship is considered by ASME to be a grant made to a student to enable or assist the student in pursuing an educational program in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Our seniors were very helpful during interview time. They help us in preparing for the interview by providing study material. Senior give us reference in their company which make easy to clear interview and get good job.

There are total 8 semester exam. We use to have 7 to 10 days gap between consecutive exam. So the exam schedule was excellent. If a person not studied anything before, he/she can complete the whole course in these leaves. Student can carry forward unlimi
