Remarks
Decision to join IIT Delhi was driven by the idea that joining one of the top 7 IITs would prove to be more beneficial in terms of opportunities than joining other IITs irrespective of the branch. Delhi also being my home town made the case just stronger.
Course Curriculum Overview
For Chemical Engineering Department:Faculty/student ratio is around 25/110(btech)Curriculum is robust and the faculty members are very knowledgeable about their fields of research. 3 exams(2 minors and 1 major) are conducted each semester and the exams are not very difficult to pass although how well you score in a particular subject depends from course to course.
Internships Opportunities
Undergraduate students pursue industrial as well as research internships in the summer break after the second and third years. Placement Experience
Campus placements are conducted after the penultimate semester of the degree in the month of december. Several undergraduate students also go for higher studies - Masters, phD, MBA
Fee Structure And Facilities
SBI Bank branch in the campus provides student loan facility to students from financially weak backgrounds. The fees structure for various categories is also different (details of the same can be found on the UG Section website of IIT Delhi).
Campus Life
Annual cultural Festival - Rendezvous (Oct)Annual Tech Festival - Tryst (Feb) The library has had all the textbooks I've needed for my courses. It also has several e resources and access to journals which are extremely helpful to the review the literature for research. The details for the same can be found on IIT Delhi, CSC (Computer Service Centre) Website. There are 4 major boards for student activities on campus 1. Board for Student Publication (BSP) 2. Board for Sports Activities (BSA) 3. Board for Recreational and Cultural Activities (BRCA) 4. Board for student welfare (BSW) The details and specific mandate for each can be found on the websites for all the boards. A simple google search would locate them. There are several other clubs which do not fall under the ambit of the 4 boards. To name a few -1. iGEM - international Genetically Engineered Machines 2. Dev Club3. Hostel Facilities
I reside in the campus hostel. IIT Delhi hostel room is fully furnished with a bed, study table, side table, dressing table, cupboard, wooden shelf, loft, fan and multiple electrical switches for the occupant. Final year btech students, mtech students and phD students get individual rooms while other btech students share a room with a room mate. The mess food is hygienic and the menu is diverse and changes frequently. Students have complete control in deciding the menu.
