Entrance Preview

I gave the MH-CET exam and scored a 156/200.I applied through the minority quota as well as the CAP rounds. In the CAP round 1, i did not get through any college, through round 2 i got a seat in IT at MHSSCOE. Simultaneously i also got a computer seat through minority quota. Proximity to my residence and having around 6 pass outs from my family.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is in sync with the Mumbai University. In the final year out of 4 electives you generally get at least 3 choices depending on a minimum quorum of students. Every branch would follow suit. In the computer department you may get the choice of all 4 electives but it is best to discuss with the faculty the pros and cons of each.

Internships Opportunities

No till 2011 we did not have any option for internships, however there were no restrictions on applying for any. Student could research individually and apply for internships, but i believe prior permission would be needed, which should not be a concern.

Placement Experience

4

Placements and Job opportunities are up to the mark. With almost 100% placement of eligible candidates in the Civil and Automobile departments. In the Computer department we were around 72 students, out of which almost 80% were placed through campus. We had companies like Infosys, TCS,Igate, GE, CSC,etc. The highest package was around 4.25 lacs with the average around 3.0 lacs.

College Events

4

There are several technical, sports and cultural festivals organised in the college. The cultural and sports festivals are organised in the even semesters on a Inter-college level on a extravagant scale. Various technical festivals are organised by departments or student chapters of CSI, IEEE, SACE etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is at par with other engineering colleges and as per the standard set by the DTE. In 2011, the fees for my batch was around Rs 48000 in the final year. The first year students of the year 2011 had fees around Rs 80000 which i believe is due to the rise in value of currency and expenditures.

Fees and Financial Aid

Various national, state and minority scholarships are easily available in the college. The office staff is well informed about such scholarships and notices are displayed well in advance. Several other private or company sponsored scholarships are also available, but they tend to be competitive in nature.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio of boys to girls is approximately 70:30. The campus life is balanced with equal emphasis on academics and extra curricular activities. Student get-togethers, farewells, picnics and Industrial visits are organised by the student communities. The labs are very well maintained.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There is hostel facility available for boys and girls separately under the Anjuman Islam trust in Andheri. But there are very few students who avail of the facility.About 90% students are residents of Mumbai, hence there is no need for hostel facility. The ones who avail of hostels or PG's do so on an individual basis.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is fairly strong. The senior students come in as when time permits to support the students or as and when requested by the faculty and the administration. Various guest lectures and doubt sessions are conducted by senior students.

Exam Structure

The exam structures are balanced. The final semester exams remaining common for all departments. There is one unit test that is conducted every semester of 30 marks for each subject. There were also tutorials which would constitute a part of the term work marks for few subjects. It would not be hectic and the exams would be planned well.

Admission

During my time there was a physical form distribution for the minority seats. The form was pretty detailed and you must make sure that you fill in every detail carefully and honestly. The notification for admission was release one week prior to the CET results and the minority rounds began before the CAP rounds.

Faculty

4

I was a part of the Computer department. We had a great and extremely supportive faculty. The faculty focuses on overall understanding with demonstrations and lectures on projectors and in labs. A lot of emphasis is laid on practicals, ensuring that each student receives an individual computer for practice.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
