IIT Pkd in Manoranjan's words

I got this IIT Palakkad based on JEE rank. I preferred Civil engg branch bcoz this is my passion. I thought to get some good College on this rank but I failed to get it as my rank was not so good. I got admitted in the clg after JOSAA counseling in the month of August. Not much information was available on internet when I opted for this college.

Course is well balanced in IIT Palakkad. Subjects taught are highly modernised linked with the modern technology. Labs are well balanced and highly advanced. I have my family background in civil engineering so I chose this course. Teacher student ratio is 1:10 as per now. Most of the faculties are young with a PhD degree and course specialization from a reputed college either from India or foreign. Semester consist of 4 months in which two mid term exams or Test 1, test 2 conducted and one end sem exam is conducted. If a student goes through the syllabus and what is taught in the class daily then he/she can pass the exam easily.

Students become eligible for campus placements from 3rd year but for internships one becomes eligible from 2nd year itself. Placements is good till now. In core courses, some students go for higher studies in universities like NTU Singapore and other IITs like Gandhinagar, Kanpur, Bombay, Delhi, etc. This year highest package is 40 Lpa CTC. Companies like Adobe and Amazon offer Internships to students while TCS and L&T are mass recruiters.

Tuition fee is 1 lakhs per sem and hostel and other fees comprise of 33K per sem taking total to 1.33 Lacs per semester. Scholarships are easily available based on category like SC/ST. One can avail MCM scholarship also getting tution fee waiver and monthly expenses of 1k.

Life is chilled at the campus with such a soothing weather. Petrichor is our annual Techno-cult festival which is held in the month of January. Library is equipped with latest journals and E-books. No. of books available is based on no of students. We have a great sports culture in our college which includes games like football, cricket, volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Athletics, etc. We have lots of clubs in college in both technical and cultural society. Naming a few as Robotics club, YACC(coding club), DAC Club, Finance club, Akshar (Literary society), Vadya(music club), Natya (dance club), quiz club, Grafica, etc.

Hostel room is one of the best in all the IITs. Facilities are good. Mess food is also Ok compatible for both vegans and Non-vegans. Mess food are balanced for both North & South Indians. College is based in two campuses currently (Ahalia Campus & Nila Campus). Hostel life is balanced in both the campuses.
