Masters or PG Diploma? Why MBA at an IIT?

At the point of time I applied, a) 4 Lakh total cost, tremendous ROI b) Major focus on entrepreneurship (access to facilities and labs), c) Placement across domains allowed i.e. sit with BTechs and Mtechs for IIT Central Placement d) Brilliant professors e) Cross Domain subjects allowed (I studied machine learning and data science along with my core management subjects) f) Unbelievable campus and campus life

Course Curriculum - 7 - needs improvement; Academics - 9 - What is taught is taught very well. Major access to global resources and infrastructure on request.; Faculty - Best in domain. More theoretically inclined than practical. However, learning model is completely practical and on hand.

Internships are offered in various domains. The easiest internships are startups that are incubated from IIT Kanpur itself. These home grown startups pay well and employ students for various domains also offering post internship opportunities. I personally worked with an automobile retail firm, one of the largest in South India, to help them leverage new business in West India and build their sales/marketing model.

Placement opportunities are decent. The advantage of being an MBA grad in an IIT such as IIT Kanpur means we can sit for the extremely valuable companies that come to recruit IIT Btech students as well. MBA placements are not at par with rest of IIT but for an investment of 4 lakhs, a job with average 12 LPA is a good deal. If you are willing to compete with the BTechs in their companies, it is possible to obtain international placements as well as high value placements (Over 30-40 lpa)

in 2019, fee structure was 5 lakhs for 2 years inclusive of everything including hostel and mess. Scholarships are available for anyone who performs well and applies for it. Government grants and funds are easily available. Funding for startups is easily available. Financial Assistance from banks is easy as IIT is a tier A government institution. Jobs available in and around campus. Job-placements are decent though disadvantaged by location.

There is a club for everything from shooting, to adventure sports, to stargazing, to anime. Lots of sports facilities including football/hockey fields, cricket fields, olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, TT and Billiard rooms etc. Has it's own private airstrip if you want to learn professional gliding it is taught by IIT and you can get licensed. Peacocks everywhere. Excellent food. Excellent crowd. Music scene is absolutely brilliant. Fests are supposedly the best in that region of India.

Hostel was excellent. Small but single/private rooms which are enough for one person. Comes with bed, cupboard, table, chair. Cleaning done almost daily by staff (very friendly). Highly affordable hostel. Food at specific hostels is amazing and restaurant quality. We would visit different hostels on different days to sample different cuisines.
