AIEEE - Secured a All India Rank of 5,062 and State Rank 51 IIT - National Rank 5,581. The branch of my major was in alignment with my career path.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was varied and was spread across 8 semesters. With mid terms and final exams to assess the academic proficiency of students. There were a bunch of interesting mandatory topics and electives to choose from. The initial 2 years was based on fundamental topics like thermodynamics, mechanics, engineering math etc.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, but very limited offering. They stipends aren't high at all unless it's a top tier company like Goldman or Morgan Stanley.
Placement Experience
The placement department is certainly hard working and has a solid network with the industry. They assist with driving students to get jobs but don't focus on the areas of interest. The mass recruiter like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant help with the statistics of employment for recent graduates.
Fees and Financial Aid
Not that many options. The only one i was given a shot at was the OP Jindal Scholarship which was only rewarded to about two students from the entire batch.
Campus Life
The gender rartio was dominated by a male population. There was diversity in terms of states but the state quota pushed that to be in favour of Odisha. The labs were state of the art but could have been more well staffed. I felt we could have learned more if there were instructors or curators who would actually be able to tell us some working knowledge on the apparatus.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors were extremely helpful in terms learning the ropes on the Institute. They were the only channel to extra curricular activities and provided guidance on courses to take. The bond we had with our seniors will be cherished for life.
Exam Structure
The exams are usually 2-3 hours long with a full score of 100. The professors used to have mock tests sometimes but the bulk of the grade was focused on the mid terms and finals. They were graded and entered into our report cards in a efficient manner.
Admission
The admission process was rather confusing and cumbersome. We had a day where we had to fill out our preferences and based on our ranks we achieved on our scorecard we got selected to certain programs. There was huge crowds and lot of mismanagement. But, for those folks who had decent ranks didn't have to worry about getting what they wanted to study.
Faculty
Most of the faculty were very qualified no doubt and competent to teach their respective course, however the delivery methods could have been better so students are more attentive and follow up with questions after class. The exam pattern was similar for all professors, it would have been nice to have take home exams with tough exploratory questions or online tests following strict time measures for each question.
