Entrance Preview
It is an amazing college to spend 4 years of engineering. Make good friends, be part of various societies, hang around in the vast campus, attend college fests all around the year. Education wise it is like any other engineering college in Mumbai University. Professors are good but there is not much emphasis on research or internships.
Internships Opportunities
I have never seen importance given to internships in any college in Mumbai university. It seems that it does not affect your career at all. Seniors and professors also do not stress about it.
Placement Experience
Good decent companies come for placements. At my time the prominent companies which showed up were. Avg. CTC is 4 lakhs per annum. Salaries vary from 2.5 lakhs to 11 lakhs depending on the company infosys, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura and many other regular multi national software companies. Very rarely you will see core companies coming in for placements.
Fee Structure And Facilities
At my time it started at about 40 thousand a year and it then rocketed to about 65 thousand a year. From what I have heard the current fees are more than 1 lakh a year. This is fairly expensive if you compare to other government funded colleges or something IITs or NITs or There are no other fees apart from these.
Fees and Financial Aid
The usual government provided schemes and facilities. Nothing of its own. First year distinction you get some Tata scholarship. SC/ST/OBC category students get freeships.
Campus Life
Regular events and parties, cultural and tech fests keep happening. 60-40 male to female gender ratio can be observed. Sports enthusiasts will find a good place here because of the vast campus and the various clubs present.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni are a proud bunch. Seniors are always helpful and guiding juniors on how to be successful. Most alumni are successful because they gave GRE or CAT and not particularly because of the college itself. But the environment is good enough to pursue better colleges for masters.
Exam Structure
Regular Mumbai university pattern. The same flow of Vivas, Practical exams and Theory exams. Some months there will be a preparatory kind of exam which are accounted for 25% of the total marks for the subject. Labs happen every week for each subject. But it is not at all hectic.
Admission
Through AIEEE. Usually it is through Maharashtra CET. Seats are split - CET, AIEEE, Management. Pretty easy process as the college is Affiliated to Mumbai university. Standard for any college in Mumbai
Faculty
Faculty is decent. Electronics and core engineering courses have a good number of senior lecturers, assistant professors and senior professors. HODs are usually good in all departments. Lot of Masters students are teaching assistants here. In streams like Information Technology there are a lot of these.
