Remarks
The obvious reason for choosing IIT Madras is its top ranking and Global recognition. IIT Madras was 1st for BTech as well as overall 2020 rankings of NIRF. The institute is AICTE approved and the most famous program at IITM is BTech in Computer Science & Engineering. The score in JEE is the factor on whose basis admissions to the institute are done as per the JOSAA counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview
The reason for choosing BTech-CSE program at IITM is the kind of exposure it provides regarding coding,programming and technology field.The industry oriented curriculum of the institute shapes the students as per market requirements. Other than its 16 educational departments the institute also has different research centres. The 4 year BTech program has a total of 8 semesters in it.
Internships Opportunities
The 2020 internship round had participation of tech companies of top level and they offered quality job roles to the students. Many students got the opportunity to work in the internships and I was one of them. My internship lasted for a time period of 7 weeks and the average stipend was also impressive. Famous names like Microsoft, Google and Rubrik were present for the round.
Placement Experience
During the 2020 campus drive of IIT Madras BTech-CSE program recorded around 90% placements. The top recruiters of the drive were Intel, Microsoft, Myntra, Google, Flipkart,HCL and Tata Group. The highest package bagged under Computer Science & Engineering was INR 88.8 LPA which itself tells about the quality of placements at IIT Delhi.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As I belong to Sc category I was able to get category based concessions and my fee for the whole program was INR 17150 only. The general students have to pay a total fee of INR 2.84 lacs across all 8 semesters.The meritorious students are provided with different academic performance based scholarships under specified criterias.
Campus Life
The Campus life of IIT Madras was a blend of different activities and events. The famous events at IITM are Exebit, Icon, Mechanica,Shaastra and Samanvay. With the availability of content for all different branches the college library was one of the most favourite things at IITM. The institute also organises numerous sports activities which are organised by the sports committee while the alumni, cultural and placement committees are also there to enhance the overall campus life experience of IIT Madras.
Hostel Facilities
IIT Madras is half an hour away from my house and this is the reason I didn't avial the hostel facility for my BTech program. But still I Know a good amount of things about the facilities because I've visited the hostels a number of times. The rooms were available for single living and sharing basis also and the facilities were totally separated for both genders. As per the reviews of my batchmates who lived in the hostels the mess services were also great.
Admission
The admissions to IIT Madras were done after the JOSAA counselling. The students must hold valid scores in the JEE exam and they must have applied for the counselling. Afterwards the allocation of seats was based on the Merit rank of the applied candidates.
