SUBHAJIT KARAR's Review On Budge Budge Institute Of Technology - [BBIT], Kolkata

The college management is very supportive regarding all kinds of technical development and support,but is very stringent on financial matters, The training and placement cell is an area where it can drastically improve upon. Overall it is a very good institute and has made significant fame in the short span of time and is an role model for any college of getting so much recognition within short span of time.if several of factors listed above are taken into consideration, time is not far for the college to be labelled as one of the best private engineering colleges in Kolkata or for that fact West Bengal and in the longer run India.

I took the entrance examination AIEEE in the year 2012 and after securing an AIR of 1,53,742 i decided to take admission this particular institute mainly because the premier institutes did not come my way unfortunately due to the kind of rank i had secured had not been sufficient enough,i decided to move forward with this institute since it had a great infrastructure,good transport facilities,a very large campus with extra curricular activities always on the line up apart from quality education which i had heard from near and dear ones studying there alreadymaintaing a school like discipline and administration which in turn benefits students in the long run even if it at the onset might seem difficult to even think.

The course curriculum is average,since it is the governing university that decides it and it is beyond the control of the college,i would personally say that students are overburdened with extra subjects,there are many semesters in which there are too many subjects grilled into it,as a result of which the students are not able to practically emphasise on specific core domain subjects which are the ultimate guides in future restricting the growth in this regard,the arrangement of subjects if implemented properly can lead to better learning atmosphere.

No the college does not have any such programme of internship as of yet ,the training and placement department of the college has tied up with several industries in order to impart knowledge to interested students during semester break holidays.

The placement and job opportunities as per the current market is quite impressive,but since i am from the core stream it does not make me impressed of that stature personally,the placements have been mainly information technology oriented with popular recruiters making way like Tech Mahindra, Wipro Technologies and Cognizant but the college still seems lagging behind many others in aspects of core opportunities provided.

There are several events organised in the college in an academic year mainly being Cultural Fest - Verve, Tech Fest - Auxesis, Sport's Fest - Idrott, Freshers' Welcome - Alaap, Farewell - Valete and several others such as Women's Day Celebration which focused mainly on women empowerment blood donation camps are also quite regularly organised several inter college competitions of cricket and football also come forward in bulk.

The fee structure is extremely expensive.A window has been set forward by the governing body or board which fixes an upper and a lower value of the per semester amount to be fixed upon.Unfortunately we are charged on the maximum limit marking it to 3,73,000 in the four year B.Tech programme which is the highest by any private engineering college in West Bengal but no special facilities are received by students in comparison to other colleges with respect to the extra amount put forwarded.the overall structure is expensive and is over burdening on the student.

Loan facility is provided or can be availed through different banks and is well supported by the college, however from personal experience i was denied a loan since the college name was not that in the reckoning, Since maximum of students travel by train, the college provides all sort of help in order to provide concessions and scholarship to minority students have also been recognized by the college.

Campus life is very strict and disciplined which produces good quality of students but sometimes it feels like a very much contained environment, there are several opportunities and support provided for extra curricular activities, Labs are fully functional to their best, improvements however can be done in the quality of desktops and accessories provided in order to be ranked among the best and with the kind of fee structure that is charged, The technical fest Auxesis was organized under me in the year 2015 and there is great enthusiasm and support from all authorities and students similar kind of outlook is put forward in other competitions as mentioned.

2 out of 5 will be my ratings the hostel administration is extremely weak, Regular maintenance and cleaning is not put forward leading to shaby atmosphere near the hostel, the basic water facilities are also extremely poor, The food served is of extremely below average quality and most of the students have it because they do not have a choice,it does not at all meet quality of health standards.

Since the institute is only 7 years old, the alumni network is not very vast and expanded as of now,but the seniors are very helpful and are always available in time of need during any help when required.

The exams and labs are done as per guidelines from the university and so the college does not have much of a say here it is quite an impressive schedule not putting too much pressure on the student. There are two semesters, one during the summer months and the other during the winter with schedule of labs generally once a week per lab subject, There are two internal examinations held for every semester and overall the exam structure is quite impressive and efficient as set up by the university.

After attaining the results of AIEEE,i directly visited the campus and got to know specific details about fees,courses offered,administration and admission process,documents required,time to be allocated for the complete documentation,placement ventures to come forward and after attaining all such information,i filled up the necessary documents,submitted photocopies of required documents and got myself enrolled.

The faculty of the college is quite good,maximum of the faculties are extremely friendly and are always upto it when approached with a difficulty, unfortunately as in all institutions there are some specific people who are unbearable sadly but maximum of them are very friendly, helpful and quite knowledgeable.
