Entrance Preview

I secured 161 cut off in my 12th CBSE board examinations. opted for the college as it was nearer to my place.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is a bit outdated , though most of the things learned were helpful in the future. Research options are limited. Though, with enough interest, there is good support from college to pursue your own research ideas. The lab facilities were good and updated.

Internships Opportunities

No, the college does not provide internship , though certain exceptions are made for gifted students who secure positions in esteemed companies.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement and job opportunities arranged by the college are limited. The companies which participate are CTS, CSC etc., the packages max out at around 3.5 LPA. More than 50% of the students get placed each academic year. And many more pursue better opportunities out of campus.

College Events

3

A lot of cultural events, symposiums for each department, Annual day are celebrated each year. There is also an event for distributing prizes for top scorers in main examinations. There is a 10 day vacation during the time of Ramzan.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very good. Its really cheap for an Anna University affiliated college. Its around Rs.36,000 per annum if joined through counselling and around 1 LPA if joined through management quota. There are not additional fees taken from the students. There is also Rs.20,000 concession for first graduate of a family.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life was very relaxed. Even though it was a muslim majority college, there was no ethnic or religious problems, there were no parties. Most of the students were from middle class families. There was never any serious political , ethnic , religious problems. Students have won major tournaments in robo racing.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facilities are decent. Not too bad and not luxurious. Its a 4 storey building with a mess attached in the ground floor. The mess provides 3 meals a day for all 7 days of a week. Biryani is served during Fridays and festivals. The average rentals is around Rs 36000 per year.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is virtually non-existant. The senior students rarely stay in touch. Though some of the senior students tend to become professors or lab assistants in the college itself.

Exam Structure

The exams are pretty frequent around, one internal examination each month and a model examination before the main examinations. The exams were usually chilled out with regular classes continuing after the exams. There were around 6 hours of lab each week.

Admission

The admission process involved applying for counselling in Anna university, I was invited for general counselling on a specified date (around May 2014) and the number of seats available in each affiliated college was displayed with the corresponding seats in each department. After submitting necessary documents, we were allowed to choose a college of our choice.

Faculty

3

The faculties are really understanding and support in pursuing anything that might be helpful for the development of a career of a student. They were ready to lend hands when needed though they were usually under qualified for the position they were teaching.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

Placement Experience:

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.
