Remarks
I applied via a common portal of the engineering colleges in chandigarh and finally chose PEC. The admission process consisted of 3 rounds and a final spot round. I got my seat under the chandigarh quota. The admisision process was easy and the documentation took minimal time.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was passionate in working in the automobile sector and chose mechanical due to the same. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:32. The faculty was very good and highly qualified. Exams were conducted twice a semester and were easy to pass if you have studied thoroughly.
Internships Opportunities
Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, American Express, ZS Associates, Maruti Suzuki and various other companies hired for internships. I applied for an off campus internship in Germany with a monthly stipend of 511 euros. The projects were not very difficult and involved basic use of concepts.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for their placements from the 7th semester. A number of companies visited the campus for various roles such as Consulting, software developer, core engineering roles, analyst and others. Highest package was offered by microsoft of 42LPA and the average is around 7LPA. Around 50% students get placed. Plans after getting the degree are likely to gain a few years of work experience and then go for a masters degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees hike policy is about 10% every year. Scholarships to reserved category students, PWD, EWS, Branch toppers and single girl child were given. Financial assistance to students was provided during the pandemic who were not able to pay their fees according to the individual situation.
Campus Life
The annual cultural and technical fest named PECFEST is conducted in the month of October. The library had a big collection of all technical and fictional books available for the students at any time. The classrooms had all the basic amenities. PEC has a variety of extra curricular activities including various music and dance clubs having their events once every 2-3 months. Clubs and socities such as PEB, Dramatics, SAE, IEEE were managed and run by students.
