Remarks
I applied for various NIT's and other top engineering institute via JOSSA. I wanted to pursue Mechanical Engineering but was not able to secure my place based on my rank. Later, I joined BTech at PEC specialised in Production and Industrial Engineering. Yes, I availed Chandigarh Quota for my admission at PEC. The admission criteria for the course was JEE mains exam and a minimum of 70% in 12th. The admission process was quite smooth.
Course Curriculum Overview
Due to my keen interest in Automobile Engineering. So, I was exploring Mechanical Engineering and related engineering. Finally, ended up with Production and Industrial Engineering (A sub-branch of Mechanical Engineering). 3:100 (Faculty:Student) Most of the teachers were PHD qualified. The teaching methodology was good. We cleared most of our concepts in the class itself. Term exams were held regularly every semester. Most of the students were able to pass the exams if they paid attention in the class itself.
Internships Opportunities
Companies visited for internship: Amzon, Microsoft, Collegedunia, ZS, Bain and Co, etc. The roles offered were in the field of Operations, Marketing, Finance, Production, etc. The projects were in the field of Industrial Engieering, Finance, Operation, Marketing, etc. The outcomes were quite constructing. We learned a lot in the respective fields.
Placement Experience
Students were eligble for campus placements during their 7th semester. Some of the companies visited the campus are Microsoft, Amazon, Uber, Collegedunia, Maruti, Groww, etc. Highest package: Microsoft (Rs. 42 lpa), Average package (Rs. 8 lpa) 60% of the total eligble students got placed in Production and IE branch. Currently, work for some time in a reputable firm and then might think of higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees hike was around 10% approximately. When we joined in 2017 the cost of completing the B Tech in Production and IE at PEC was around Rs. 4,82,000 /- excluding hostel fees. Some of the scholarships are as follow: EWS,PWD, Branch Rank Opener, Sigle girl child,Class topper. The financial assistance was even provided to students with personal problems if they brought this is attention of college authorities. There is no such thing of Job on campus with stipend.
Campus Life
Annual Fest: PECfest held in the month of october every year. There were a lot of books and journals available in the library with respect to your field. There are a lot of socities like SAE (Sociey of Automobile Engieers). ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers), ASCE (The American Society of Civil Engieers), SME (Society of Mechanical Engineers), etc.
