Nikhil Jose Prakash's Review On Karunya Institute Of Technology And Sciences - [Karunya Deemed University], Coimbatore

I wrote Karunya Entrance Examination only with a rank of 3133. I chose B.Tech. Biotechnology to learn something new and different. The interview and admission process was refined and made simple by the college.

The syllabus followed in Continuous Comprehensive Examination. There is a regular test after near every 3 weeks of class. Then comes the end semester exams. The course I have taken, Biotechnology, is highly research oriented. The department is the best in the university in terms of academic structure and research.

It provides internships to students with a stipend around Rs. 5000. The experience of students who have had an internship here have always said well about it.

There are lot of companies that arrive at Karunya University for placements. Companies like HP, Accenture, IBM, Infosys, Cognizant, etc. come regularly and many students have been propelled into a successful career. Packages range from 2.8 lakhs per annum to near 25 lakhs per annum with incentives.

The fee structure is feasible for some courses while a little expensive for some. It depends mostly on the course studied. Then there is hostel fees and mess fees. Both are feasible and the facilities provided are better than what most colleges would provide. WiFi fees are also very cheap with good speed.

I do not know in detail on this topic, though I believe that the college provides scholarship. I have never availed a scholarship, so I am not aware of any that are present.

The campus life is amazing. It's a whole different world here. The girls and boys have separate hostels with the girls hostels made in a whole small town of their own with a all facilities. The boys have hostels spread throughout the area depending on course and year of study. There is no discrimination and people from all over India and other countries present.

There are tests that take place every 3-4 weeks which add up in internal marks along with attendance and assignments for another few marks called quality assessment. Once you have the required marks, you can attend the end semester exams. There are 3 internals in a semester with 12 marks for quality assessment.

The admission process was done in a very precise manner. The school reports and other achievements and certificates were needed. The administration of Karunya University had done a good job in making sure the process went smoothly. Since the release of the KEE results, they were in contact and helped in the transport and whole of the admission process.

The faculty of the college may seem strict at first, but once you get to know them, they are very wonderful, smart and helpful people. They maintain a level of discipline, but at the same time provide students with ample fun. Through all the fun, they manage to maintain the decorum of the university.
