I choose biomedical engineering because it is the best course for those who want to study medical sciences and engineering at the same time, like me. Fee seemed affordable, when I enquired about the same. Admission process was simple. VEE (VELS Entrance Exam) exam is mandatory for admissions. After the results application form is to be filled, the application fee is 1000 INR then eligibility is checked the application is processed , fee payment is done and hence admission is confirmed.

I always wanted to pursue my career in the medical field where I would be able to contribute to the improvement of human health by applying my knowledge and learnings in developing new methods and technologies. Hence Biomedical engineering was suitable for me. Faculties were PhD's and master's degree holders and had six year plus experience in teaching in areas like Bio medical Instrumentation, Image processing, Bio signal processing and Non - Invasive Diagnosis. Their knowledge helped me in understanding subjects taught.Also their experience in the research field helped me in practical labs while learning medical instruments and processes. Subjects such as Human anatomy and physiology, Biomechanics and Bio fluids, Bio Instrumentation and measurements, Sensors and Transducers laboratory are very interesting.

Placements are good. Some of the good companies that visit for recruitment drives are Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Sutherland, IFB and HDFC. Highest package that was offered was 7LPA and average salary package is 5LPA. 80% of all gets placed. After my degree I wish to work in a Diagnostic and Therapeutic Laboratory.

The annual fees for the first year is 220,000 including insurance , skill enhancement fee, registration fee and 110,000 for the remaining three years. scholarships are of two types merit based and on the basis of V-SAT Scholarship exam.

A large number of facilities were provided in the campus. Central library is divided into various sections for ease in finding the required book. The sections are Stack area, Periodical section, reference section, rare books manuscripts and special report section, research scholar carrels, virtual learning center, E-Knowledge resource center and Thesis & Dissertations. Around 12 lac books are available in the library. There is an entrepreneurial club named the Tycoon Club. Other clubs like Music club, dance club, Tamil literary club also exist. Rotaract club is specially for social welfare. NSS and YRC are also associated. Inter departmental and Inter college cultural events are held every year. The Innovation club is specially dedicated to engineering and pharma. VELS Nakshatra National level cultural event is an annual event.

I stayed at campus hostel throughout graduation. Separate hostels for girls and boys are available in the campus premises. At the time of admission itself registration for hostel facility is taken care of if required. Caution deposit of 5000 is taken at the start. 51,600INR is the annual fees for the hostel including the mess fees.AC rooms are also available. Food quality is good. We can opt for the veg/non-veg option accordingly. Other facilities such as laundry, Wi-Fi, and medical facilities are also provided.
