Remarks
Admission in IIIT Sonepat is through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Counselling. The cutoff for the year 2020 was AIR 17628 for the CSE branch in the general category and AIR 22358 in IT for the general category. For admission in IIIT Sonepat, one has to acquire 70% marks in 12th boards in PCM and clear JEE Mains with a decent rank to crack the cutoff.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very advanced. In the first year itself, we study CS/IT-related subjects like data structures, web development, application programming, etc. The faculty members are very supportive and experienced and focus on skill development rather than mugging up. All the faculty members are from NITs IITs and other good government colleges. Exams are held on a monthly basis and are related to the topics taught in the class and are purely application-based.
Internships Opportunities
Many startups, companies provide internships in 3rd year. There are unpaid, paid and summer internships provided by the college but usually, students opt for off-campus internships and there are credits for the internships.
Placement Experience
The highest package offered is 44 LPA and the average package offered is 12 LPA. The top recruiters are Microsoft with 44 LPA, PhonePay 28 LPA, Flipkart 25 LPA, and many more. The placement records have grown fast and with the signing of MoU with DTU and IIT Hyderabad, it is expected to maintain the upward curve. Also, many alumni opted for higher studies and are in prestigious colleges like IIT Bombay.
Fees and Financial Aid
For CS/IT the course fee is approx 70,000 + 40,000 (Hostel & mess charges) per semester.You can apply for state scholarships and bank loans, as the administration is cooperative and provides the documents needed for any kind of scholarship.
Campus Life
Campus life is great as the Hostels are no less than 5-star rooms with all the facilities. There are cultural and tech fests held every year, the name of the tech fest is Hacktober. There are various active clubs like E-cell, technical club (enigmatics), opulence club, fitMe (Sports), etc. Also, the environment in these clubs is very friendly and we get to learn a lot.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are no less than 5-star hotels with centralized AC, small fridges, television, etc. Each room is assigned to a couple of students with attached washrooms. Mess facility is also provided and the quality of food is also good, but the taste totally depends on the individual. The nearest PG locations are around 6-8km from the campus at an affordable price.
