My review as an AI and ML student

I applied to various private colleges like BITS, Manipal, KIIT, SRM, etc but finally chose VIT Chennai just because it was the only one that was offering the course that I really desired to have. Just like every other private college VIT conducts VITEEE. Based on your score you will be allocated a category during counselling. Minimum marks for each course differs, you can apply for it after your 12th boards.

As AI and ML is the hot topic these days, I could not find a lot of colleges offering this particular course especially with specialization in AI and ML. Since the pandemic has devastated a lot of jobs opportunities, so these days faculty to student ratio is almost 1:60 or more. All of the faculties are trained well enough to use online resources to teach and they take it very seriously. Each semester we have one exam each 1 and half months and then the final semester end exam. Apart from this assignments and MCQ tests are taken weekly to ensure student understanding.

Companies like Amazon, Paypal, Google, HP appoints students as Junior SDE. Most of the time it is based on projects done before and your industrial knowledge. Most of the time companies have 3-4 rounds when recruiting. It contains coding tests, technical interviews, resume interviews and HR interviews.

Internship and Company placements start from 3rd year. Many companies like Microsoft, Amazon, paypal, udaan, dyte, DE shaw, Morgan Stanley, etc organize campus interviews and offer internship opportunities as well. Highest CTC is around 75 LPA.

Fees is moderately affordable, Scholarship is provided for board toppers. Financial assistance and quota is provided to SC,ST and OBC castes. VIT ensures that each student gets to experience industrial methods and their working via providing internship opportunities. A lot of super dream and dream companies visit our campus to select students offering more than 28 LPA + packages.

The credit system of VIT makes it compulsory for each student to take part in extracurricular activities and join clubs, societies, chapters, etc. In online mediums, professors provide links for digital books, moreover, VIT provides access to their digital library as well. VIT Chennai conducts cultural and tech fests each year, one of them is called Vibrance. Clubs and Societies recruit and organize online events in which we can participate and enjoy.
