Remarks

I applied for BSc in St. Joseph College Darjeeling, Asutosh College,DU and many other institutes but I got opportunities for engineering so I didn't opted for all of these. I took admission through OBC-B quota in GCETTB with GMR 8815 and OBC-B rank 462. There is no specific age criteria for admission in GCETTB. I found that students with General merit rank upto 66000 has taken admission in this College if they belong to SC/ST quota. The students belonging to general quota can take admission if their general merit rank lies below 8500. Due to pandemic all admission process was online. Wbjee counseling was also done online through it's official website.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I had a keen interest in programming since class 11 and decided to pursue my career in this field only and this was why I pursued BTech in CSE from GCETTB. Faculties are quite good.We have different teachers for each subject in each department with approximate ratio of 1:44. All faculty members are highly qualified. All has completed their masters in respective fields from well knowned colleges and universities. The teaching method varies from one faculty member to other but yes they all do a good job in their own way and all students are satisfied with their way of teaching. There are 4 internal exams namely ca1,ca2,ca3 & ca4 in each semester. Practical exams are also conducted 4 times in each semester namely PA1, PA2, PA3 & PA4.At the end of each semester, there is one final exam.Clearing all these exams depends on your preparation and dedication level .

Placement Experience

3

From the 6th semester onwards the students start getting placed in companies. The package depends on the company you get placed in and your position. The placement rate is very high for the textile department and for other departments it's around 60-70%. I would go for Mtech in CSE after completing BTech.

Fees and Financial Aid

For CSE students the fee structure is 18k per year and for other departments, it is 11.5k per year. The students who have been allotted under the TFW category are required to pay Rs.11000 for CSE and Rs.10,500 for EE, ME & TT per year. There are many scholarship schemes from the government like Swami Vivekananda Scholarship,Aikyashree, National Scholarship Scheme, and many more scholarships from private organizations. Almost every student of the college avails scholarship and the amount varies depending upon your department, the scholarship you are availing, and your financial condition. But, surely, the amount will include the full reimbursement of your college fees and hostel fees. Every year several companies visit campus for placement and the placement level is quite good. If you have the required qualities and excellence in your academics, the chances of getting placed are very high. The placement rate is very high for the textile department.

Campus Life

4

GCETTB annual fest is conducted at the end of every academic year. Tech fest is also conducted from time to time within the span of 6 months. The classroom is well maintained with all required things. Those interested in sports get ample amount of opportunities to participate in it. Different competitions are organized, including sports, debate, speech, singing, dancing, and many more. There are sports, photography, coding, and music clubs in the college, which college students volunteer.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
