Shankhadeep Dasgupta's Review On Jadavpur University - [JU], Kolkata

I entered Jadavpur through WBJEE. The WB state engineering entrance examination. I ranked 881 in GMR. I entered this college because it is the best engineering college in west bengal.

Our college is under Jadavpur University. So the curriculum is fully up to date.Research work is the speciality of this university.With JU ranked among the top 80 universities in Asia you can have a clear picture of our record.In India based on advanced research faculty JU is ranked among top 10.

Internship opportunities are huge. The providers are Tata, DSP, Amazon, Goldman and Sachs, HUL, HP just to name a few of them. As I am a fresher so don't know much about the stipend but seniors informed that internship experiences are awesome. They are provided with actual real life problems to solve with deadlines and mentorship.

The recruiters include Google, Amazon, Goldman and Sachs, Rolls Royce, Snapdeal, Vedanta, Tata industries, RIL, L&T, Honeywell, Jindal and all the IT companies included and many more. The average packages from BE department is somewhere around 5.5 LPA. Last year the highest package was grabbed by a student of CSE of 1.1 crore per annum.

The technical fests are departmental like trajectory, sparkz etc receive massive participation from all over the state including IIT kgp ,Nit Dgp. The grand Engineering tech-fest is Srijan. The departmental freshers are special attraction. Electrophoria(ETCE), Ferroholic(metallurgy), Edifice(Civil) to name a few. Sanskriti is the biggest college fest in bengal that is organised by JU.

As JU is a state funded university the fee here is very low. The fees for engineering and technology for all departments is Rs 2400 per year and Rs 710 as the admission fee. The fees for the arts and other faculties are roughly around the same mark. The examination fee is Rs 200 per semester.

The exam structure is usual and student friendly. The labs are regular and very well equipped with very helpful lab assistants. The class tests are not over the top hectic but regular. Exam slots are provided to the students and the students decide the exact exams in the respective slots provided.

I entered through WBJEE. The form fill up for WBJEE generally starts from January with the examination generally held in the month of May. After that the Joint Board organises e-counselling process where you are allotted the seats according to you respective ranks.

JU has an esteemed faculty unit with the teachers from JU itself, IITs, NITs, IIESTs etc. And many visiting professors also.An average of 75% of the faculty have Ph.ds in their respective departments.They are very qualified and all student friendly. They provide us with adequate assignments to learn more.
