Department of Zoology (DU)

The admission process is very simple. In my time admission took place in July. - August. There are. Two ways to getting admission in any department for a masters degree in Delhi University one is through merit and the other is through the entrance exam. Merit list candidates will be from honours courses or should be the previous student of University and in the entrance, anyone from DU and other universities can take part. So there is little more competition in the entrance exam. There is the quota for EWS, OBC, SC and ST and also sports quota. I think there are no such minimum age criteria but before admission 60% is compulsory. The admission process is very simple. You have to take all your documents to respective departments and College they. will verify and admission will be done.

This course is very good for practical as well theoretical point of view and also if you want to do teaching in colleges and schools then it will be best to take this course. Many of the professors of DU who are teaching in respective Colleges are from the Department of. DU. Well, faculties are not very large in the number you will find that one teacher is teaching 100 students but classroom are very large and well equipped so there are no such problems. Faculty are well educated mostly all professors have done their Pos doc's from outside India. The teaching method is also very good. They will always help you when you want any help. The exam is quite difficult if we compare it with undergraduate courses but if you are taking regular classes and making notes so will be easy to pass the exams.

The scholarship is given to students who are among the first three according to merit admission. Students who take the entry from entrance exam will not get any scholarship. Few of the students got jobs in institutes like Aakash as faculty for Zoology Many of the students cleared exams like Gate, NET and do PhD with a stipend of 31k per month.

Nexus is an annual cultural fest of SVC that takes place in February and it is a very nice fest but one thing I have to mention here if you will take admission in any college of DU for MSc, Classes will take place in Department which is common for all masters students. You have three libraries Department library, college library and Science Library ( CSL). I think you will get any book of interest in the library. College provide very good facilities for sports like cricket, badminton and football, table tennis The classroom in the department is very big and air conditioned. You can join any society in collegelike NSS, NCC, Sehyog etc.
