I was admitted based upon my marks in Diploma in Electronics Engineering. Which was around 90% (Now cutoff will be more than that).
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is not the best available but is not worst either, as an autonomous institute it has a reputation to maintain so they do not keep is far behind the best ones. Although all the latest technology is not included in course does not mean that you cant learn that. You have the internet then you have all the good technology just a click away, also you can take help of teachers in their free time.
Internships Opportunities
No our college does not provide any internship to anyone but they certainly hire people on temporary basis to teach in facility. Generally you can easily earn upto 30 k if you have M.Tech degree and 20K if you have B.Tech or Equivalent.
Placement Experience
Placement and Job opportunities are the main laurel of GCOEA. The year I passed placement records were almost 100%. I was placed in cognizant with decent salary at that point of time. Many people were also placed in Wipro. Also there are many companies which hire students in smaller quantity but higher packages, during my time those were John Deere, FIAT, Bajaj, BPCL, Persistent, Hella, TTL etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees when I was admitted was 26000 for open category students which i s now doubled to 54000 for open category students, which I think is feasible if you compare to other colleges. For OBC's its half the cast and free to SC, ST students. You will not be charged much for any other activity so it is feasible.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a government organisation all govt approved scholarship programs can be availed here. If you belong to OBC, SC, ST, Minority or Economically Backward group you can get concession in fees or whole waiver of fees depending upon program. Also scholarship for SC, ST students is given to all students who apply and fit for it.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is quite unique which gives higher importance to class test which is of just 15 marks for each subject. The total of 100 marks in any subject in the final marksheet is not directly from final exam but is a combination of these four Class Test 1 (15 Marks), Class Test 2 (15 Marks), Teacher assessment (10 Marks), End Semester Exam (60 Marks).
Admission
The admission process for all college in Maharashtra is same and is done through Online Form submission which was separate for Autonomous and University colleges. If you are selected in Auto. you are not eligible for later. I was not selected in autonomous due to lesser percentage and got selected in GCOEA which was not considered among auto then through Online CAP round.
Faculty
The faculty of college is the best in business around the area, many experienced and well educated teachers which are selected through a very tough selection procedure by the government. Some may not be as good as they seem on paper but mostly all are highly knowledgeable people in their respective areas.
