Remarks
I applied only to the universities within Chandigarh for personal reasons. Didn't avail any quota. At the time there was a separate organization for universities within Chandigarh called JAC, different from all India counseling. I cleared the cutoff for mechanical and at the time physics was one of my favorites, therefore I opted for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for mechanical, most of the professors were quite accomplished in their field but I won't say they created interest within students as in most of the colleges in India. But PEC is pretty good with the placements especially in the circuital sector not so good with the non-circuital sector though.
Internships Opportunities
I went for an internship at the KIT Institute of automation and applied informatics, Karlsruhe, Germany. It was a research internship that I applied for off-campus. At the internship, I was responsible for developing a pressure module for confidential equipment from scratch. I was working with the scientific administrative director of the institute.
Placement Experience
It is mandatory to get an internship in the sixth semester and there are plenty of opportunities especially for the circuital departments, not so much for the non-circuital but students can appear in the interviews from any branch in most cases. The average package for mechanical students is around 7 LPA but that's cause most of them get jobs in the IT, consulting, or finance sector. Although I won't say it is the fault of the university, there were a lot more companies in the previous years when the manufacturing sector was flourishing.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees and hostel fees both are around 60,000. There are few financial aids for people with weaker financial backgrounds. I haven't seen jobs on campus but I guess it's possible. Few scholarships were available for the toppers as well as the girl toppers.
Campus Life
There were some events like college fests and technical fests. There is a beautiful library on the campus it might be the best building over there, the best part about it is you can request books which are not even in the library and they can get it for you. Talking about other amenities you will love the grounds and gym although the gym equipment is not that great.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel life is great but the bathroom is not so much, that's the only reason I think the hostel fee is not is justified. The Food is good if not great, compared to other universities. If you have Chandigarh quota it might be difficult for you to avail of the hostel, although not impossible but it is particularly difficult for the first semester.
