YCCE, BE, Mechanical Engineering

Entrance Preview

AIEEE - Rank 58000, I took admission in YCCE, Nagpur for BE (mechanical). It is a very good college for mechanical engineering aspirants and clearly is among the best in the state.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum at my time was perfect and the updated one. We learned what we were taught and the same thing we performed in our practicals. So, it was learning by doing approach. We had subjects from varied fields of mechanical that brought a wholistic type of curriculum for our learning. The best part of our curriculum was our electives.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, YCCE provides internships. We did our internship at AMUL and Mahindra & Mahindra. If I remember, my seniors and juniors all were provided internships at various places. It was a two activity. College was also providing the internship and parallelly students can also go for internship at their preferred organisation if they had any contact in that particular industry.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are something to which every parent and students look for. If for anyone this is the major criteria and you are not able to crack IIT or NIT then without even thinking about anything, join YCCE. This college offers placement to everyone. Even decent students get placed in two-three companies. I got placed in VISA Steel Limited in my 6th semester only.

College Events

4.5

YCCE's annual festival popularly known as YASH is the talk of the town. It is not possible that a student studying Nagpur region does not know about YASH. Every year, YASH gathers more than 1000 of students every year from various colleges. It has celebrities, games, cultural fest and technical events. May it be a Star celebrity night or a sporting championship or a paper presentation or a quiz.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I exactly don't know about the current fee structure but when I passed out it was roughly Rs 48,000 per year. As YCCE has become an autonomous institute, the fee may have increased but still it will be less than the other colleges because here the focus of the management is not money making but developing the lives.

Fees and Financial Aid

College offers scholarships to meritorious students. It also offers financial assistance to needy students based on their caste and income status. It also offers low cost and free books from the college's library to these students on a returnable basis after the completion of the course. It also assists the students for loan and financial help required.

Campus Life

4.5

YCCE is a one destination for all. Be it sports (by the way I am a University colour holder in Athletics from YCCE), music, dance, gaming or studying. You'll find everything in YCCE. It organises several competitions like quizzes, paper presentation, debates etc. College is equipped with 3 canteens throughout the campus and provides a decent campus life to students.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel is good, very spacious. It has two types of rooms (2 bed and 3-bed sharing rooms). It has also its own gym, playing facilities like (Table tennis, chess, football, volleyball, cricket). The availability of room in Hostel is based on first come and first serve basis. It has roughly occupancy for 200 students.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network of YCCE has grew strong over past 5 years as alumni from all over the world have united through a website and are in touch. Moreover college has also organised few alumni meets for reunions.

Exam Structure

The exam pattern is very structured at YCCE. At my time it followed a semester pattern. In every semester we also used to have few mid-term examinations. We used to get percentages after our every semester that were based on a comprehensive written examination and practical examination.

Admission

I got my admission through AIEEE counselling session. I was allotted YCCE in my first counselling and I opted for the same college because many of relative studied from this college and all had the same reviews as of mine. The admission process was easy as I only needed my passing certificates, AIEE rank sheet and a DD of my admission fee. I went and paid the fees and got the admission.

Faculty

5

The best part of Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering is their faculties. The college has succeeded in grabbing the best they could have done. We have the masters of the core subject who were the subject matter experts. Most of them were from the IIT's. Even we had few professors who had the industrial experience and were able to relate our classroom activities and concepts with that to industries.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.

All faculty members are well-qualified and experienced. The course is very vast but the teaching faculty cover it through their extra lectures and practicals.
