IIEST Shipbur A nice place to make your college life memorable

As my senior peers told me I filled almost all good NIT'S From the top of the NIRF list branch wise obviously. The main thing in my mind was college distance from my home state and its reviews there were many good iiit's that I was able to bag in with my rank but couldn't make up my mind to apply for them because of Distance and not very good living conditions in hostels (ex. IIIT Guwahati ). Yes, I availed OBC quota and since the college, I joined is not in my home state so there was not any chance of a state quota. For age criteria, you can check your age according to when you qualified secondary and higher secondary in school. minimum marks and cutoffs are available all around everywhere on the internet but you can also check previous year official marks and cutoffs for different colleges on jossa official site as well. since in this pandemic everything shifted to online mode There weren't any chances of going through offline counselling, everything happened online all and everything.

My interests were primarily in the domain of Computers and software. So considering the rest other things like my rank and the college I ended up with electronics and telecommunications in IIEST Shibpur. Institute is pretty good, Faculties are very well renowned and the institute is very famous for research based domains the faculty to student ratio is decent not very good, Professors are very helpful, But I would say the college is mostly made up because of the quality of students here, Seniors communicate with juniors in a very good manner and teach us different things about college and all. Exams were medium level not so tough not so easy overall mixed experience it was.

Like as for placements the internship opportunities are very good for those in CSE, IT also rest other branches can also take part in software domain JOBS and internships but things are pretty smooth if you are in CSE or IT department in IIEST Shibpur rest of other branches are just pulled I the string the one who works hard from start toward specific job or internship will most probably end up with a decent PPO In 7th semester itself.

Placements are descent not so good. But for branches like CSE, IT & Mining placements are pretty good almost 90 plus percentage people are placed in these branches. For an instance, this year 10 or more seniors of 3rd year got PPO in Microsoft from CSE and a few From IT as well. The highest package hovers around 40to 50 lpa every year and the median goes to 9 to 10 lpa and the lowest is 4 lpa somewhat.

Being one of the oldest colleges in India and getting direct funds from central govt itself the facilities are good like every thing is pretty much maintained. Hostels are in decent condition. Mess isn't very good I will say but ok ok like every other college food quality is not so good. There are several state govt scholarships in here that you can enjoy if you come under the bracket satisfying all criteria as for me I wasn't able to get any coz of not satisfactory criteria.

IIEST Shibpur is known for its very rich heritage and culture. There are lots of clubs like REFLEXO BETA, CODEIIEST, CATHARSIS. RELATED to photography dance and tech almost every kind of club we have here if. The environment of college for any cultural program or any kind of festival celebrating it's very healthy. The college itself invests very well in the intercollege activities and programs.

You can get all this information easily being in the most famous city of Bengal the place is filled with greenery and resources all around, accommodation is pretty easily available to be it inside the campus or rent a private room.
