Remarks
Hello fellow students, I appeared for the AEEE and VITEEE, I was getting the desired course there too but the institution is quite strict for such a mischievous kid as me. So telling about the VIT EXAM. The admission process is through an exam named as VITEEE, 80 MCQS, 90 MINUTES, NO NEGATIVE MARKING, 1 MARK EACH CORRECT ANSWER. QUITE SIMPLE. The exam was on the moderate level, Easier than JEE AND BITSAT, similar to COMEDK. Eligibility for my year required a minimum aggregate of 55% in PCM in the 12 board exams. However for SC/ST candidates, JK, Ladakh, and North Eastern students the Minimum Percentage is 50. You must be born on or after July 1, 2000, for the 2022 exam. The result of VITEEE is announced on the exam portal and ranks are published and according to your rank, you'll have to attend the counseling for your preferred branch and preferred fee category. That's it, if you get low grades, you should get into this great institution as no quota is available here.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite simple, you get to do some basic computer-related courses for 1 sem and other obvious mechanical subjects like physics and maths. I chose this course because I had a great liking for this core branch. The faculty here is very understandable and they are like a family to you. They solve your every doubt and in the best possible way. Every faculty here is highly qualified like MTECH at least. They too are selected through a very tough exam( common for Vellore and Chennai). The teaching method is very smart, you'll be taught through PDFs that are quite relevant instead of those thick boring books. The exams are on the moderate level, CHEATING is a big NO otherwise a semester back is evident.
Internships Opportunities
Stipends around 50k are quite Normal, otherwise also the brand name VIT pretty much assures you internships, you get to know a lot through all this, I don't have much info about this yet, so won't mention much..
Placement Experience
3-year students get to do their internships, through which they can get PRE PLACEMENT OFFERS. From the first day of the fourth year, companies in huge numbers come to recruit students. The highest package this year is 75LPA, Average of around 7 LPA. Around 90% of students do get placed in this college every year. The placements are very very good and quite underrated in this college
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no fee hike in VIT CHENNAI, you get admission in 5 categories, Cat 1 is the lowest fee 1.95L, and cat 5 is the highest around 5L per year. Category 1 is the best scholarship you can get (these are given acc to your viteee ranks). A total of 842 companies came for recruitment for the 2021 batch which is huge. 85.42% of students are already placed. You can easily get a job at VIT. Core jobs are a bit tougher but in IT companies each one of you can get a job..
Campus Life
VIBRANCE is the Cultural Fest where there are all sorts of Celebrity Nights, Games, Dances and you enjoy yourself to the fullest. These are conducted in the Winter Phase. Other Hackathons are also conducted around the year. The college library is HUMONGOUS. Every type of book you can get here, a fully air-conditioned library. Classrooms are average, the worst thing here. Sports you need to excel yourself, no major support given, but he's if you excel you get a scholarship of around 3k, yeah just that xD. There are lots of CLUBS AND CHAPTERS here. You can start your own here too. Car teams, MUN, LANGUAGE, DEBATES, NGOS, Everything has a club which you can enroll..all run by students..
Hostel Facilities
You get an option to choose AC OR Non AC. I chose NON AC. The heat is bearable. You get a quite a spacious room for 4 students. Fans are there (quite good), Bunker beds, and an almirah type. The mess food is good, nothing special. Registration is done through VTOP AND QUITE AFFORDABLE for Non-ac students.
