Course Curriculum Overview
In recent times, NITK has included good industry oriented courses, we had cloud computing, distributed database, Deep Learning as part of Image Processing course. Computer Network is the on top in academic progress, ns3, linux, freeBSD contributions have been made. Along with these, we had great indepth algorithm oriented courses. AI is a pretty old word in the campus, every student knows deep learning and machine learning, reinforcement learning.
Internships Opportunities
Companies come to hire interns in the month of August, most of the 5th sem students get internship offers. There is plenty of opportunity. Plenty of multinational firms hire interns. Most of the interns end up with a job offer. These days brand new startups are also approaching the students. Academic internship also has great scope MITACS and DAD are two imminent programs which students are involved in. Plenty of students do internship for IISc after first year.
Placement Experience
The college has great placement stats, it stages as a premium institute. Computer Science and IT get full placements, non-circuit branches have fewer core jobs, but plenty of analyst or software profiles are offered to them.
Fee Structure And Facilities
There are plenty of scholarship, You get a scholarship if you are the class topper, you get exemptions based on your academic scores. For economically backward, income < 1 lakh rupees, tution fees is waived. For < 5lakh there is some percent exemption. This applies to the categories as well. There are different clubs and committees for tutoring after college hours.
Campus Life
Fun at NITK starts after 5 p.m. NITK hosts second biggest cultural festival in south India Incident. I have been part of many organising committees. NITK is the only campus with beach in India. Evenings are always fun. There are really good sports facilities and gyms. There are more than 2 dozen clubs doing different things. Engineer is the annual Tech Fest.
Hostel Facilities
You can avail hostel rooms if you don't have a place to stay, Hostel is always preferred, for first year students usually 3 students are allocated a room. In second year, 2 students in a room and after that you get single accomodation. The rooms are spacious and mostly clean corridors. Some times toilets suck because other students are unclean, but that's only till first year.
