Review to be noticed

PGGC 11 was my top preference, it being considered no. 1 College in Chandigarh. Applied for SD-32 CHD and Dav-10 CHD but didn't take admission in them, they being semi-govt colleges. Availed UT quota-carrying 10 marks. Got admission in the first counseling. Dhe.chd.gov.in is the official site providing admissions in colleges affiliated with PU. It pops the recent announcement and updates regarding the admissions process. Candidates get a special ID on filling out the form, to know the results they are supposed to log in with the ID password. In the application form, they can see their allotted colleges. Also, lists are uploaded on the site under quotas such as UT pool, the only girl, defense, etc. Where you can search your name. Candidates are made to select a certain no. Of colleges compulsorily. The colleges should be selected as per their preferences I.e. more preferable at the top. The colleges are allotted as per merit. The fee for the form is 70 rupees. 4-5 counseling are conducted.

Opted BCA being the technical course related to IT and my interest in it. 60 students in a section. In my section 10 girls 50 boys. Most of the teachers are well qualified with few M TECH degree holders, polite, soft-spoken. The first 2 semesters were online. In the 3 semesters, we have blended mode, as per student preference whether they want to attend classes online or offline. The syllabus is covered before final exams speedily. Exams were conducted as per the given date sheet by the colleges. Papers were mostly uploaded/provided 10 minutes prior. It was easier to pass it being conducted in online mode.

Govt colleges provide better education at minimum cost. The total fee for the degree is 1.1 lacs. The fee for the first sem was 24,000 and the second sem was 19,000. The fee per semester is different but the total of all the semesters amounts to 1.1 lacs. Labs are provided, one is free to use the lab after the teacher's permission. Colleges update about the scholarship on NSP, applicable in the college. The fee for BCA in govt is less as compared to semi-private colleges. But as per govt colleges and other courses in it, I found it a bit expensive. Internships and placement start in 5-6 semesters.

Due to covid-19, no fests were conducted. A tech fest was conducted in which only a few were eligible to participate at the college level. A library pass is mandatory for library access. The library is well maintained and updated with books and journals, almost all the required books are available. The classrooms were normal with simple bench desks. NCC and NSS groups are made. Due to covid-19 extra co-curricular were less likely done and only done as per the govt guidelines. No social life experienced due to covid 19.
