Course Curriculum Overview
As recently the govt. has implemented the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the students are now offered better subjects and there is a great freedom of choosing subjects. With the NEP 2020, now you have to choose a MDC, SEC, and VAC subject which helps you to learn something new. Various choices are given to the students.
Internships Opportunities
Several companies have offered numerous internships to many students including the students of first year under the NEP 2020. Previously only final year students were offered some internships but now the first year students are also provided internships.
Placement Experience
Obviously the placements are offered in the final year but due to the NEP 2020. Various interships are provided to the students of even first year ones. Companies like Airtel, Amazon India, BYJU's, HCL, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, etc have offered placements to the students in their companies. The average package students can expect is around 2-3 lakhs per annum and the highest package would be around 10-15 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placements varies from 5-7% only.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fee for Bachelor of Arts in Postgraduate Govt. College, Chandigarh is around 25k. Due to its govt. roots, the fees is very reasonable. No extra fees like tuition fees, lab fees, etc. is taken from students as the principal amount covers all the fees in it. There are mutliple schemes available in the college. Students who can't afford to pay full fees are given exemption. Several methods are followed to exempt students fees like scholarship under NSP, College scholarships, fees exemption for needy, and other private scholarships.
Campus Life
Several fests are organised in the college campus almost every month. Several companies approache the authorities for the same. The college prepares best for the Annual Youth & Heritage Festival organised by the AIU and win trophies in almost every field. A wide variety of books are available in the college library from self-help books, poetry, literature, science, fiction, non-fiction, etc. Collebe library is very big and has a very pleasant environment for reading.
Admission
This college is the best govt college in Chandigarh. The education level, the infrastructure, the co-curricular activites, the participation in youth festival is beyond the same of other colleges. I've applied only this college because this is regarded as the best govt colleg of Chandigarh. The admission of students are done on merit-based. Cut-offs are generally higher than the other colleges due to being the best of Chandigarh.
Faculty
The college faculty is awesome and very polite. Anyone can approach any teacher for any type of query, he/she will try to help the student. Almost all faculty is very polite and humble and supports you at every step. Not gonna name my best faculties because everyone has a different point of view. The examination system is very justified. You have to give the MSTs and the semester exams to go to the next semester. The examination level is simple and easy. Students only have to achieve 25% marks in order to get pass.
Night Life
There are several parks in the campus where students spend their quality time. Some of them are the Central Park, Mughal Garden, and the Sports Complex. Students generally gather around the Nescafe area where other vendors are also there for snacks and stuff. There is also a college canteen near the swimming pool of the college. The hostel timings are a bit strict upto 6pm and the college closes at about 4pm.
