AIEEE, Had the option of choosing either B.Tech. or B.Sc. Opted for B.Tech. As I was advised by many that B.Tech. is a professional course and will get you much better job opportunities. In my experience and opinion, this is just a myth. Opt for what you feel like is better as per your capabilities.
Internships Opportunities
No internship is provided by the college. We were required to submit Annual projects, after training/internships from other organisations. Even if a student religiously studied and submitted a project (which, frankly, most of us including me didn't), the project was never properly seen by any teacher/HOD because in the end, the grades were all that mattered.
Placement Experience
The college does not guarantee any kind of placements for its students. Most of the companies which came to our college for placement during our final year were BPOs or Digital Marketing companies. Big names like Infosys, TCS or HCL have sadly, never set foot in our college. Out of a few small IT companies that make it to our college, some of them turn out to be fraudulent ones.
Fee Structure And Facilities
According to me, the fee structure is expensive as compared to other colleges. Colleges like Manav Rachna have much better facilities than Echelon, with a fee difference of just 15 to 20k rupees.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship is provided to students who score above 80% in their class 12th Board exams. This scholarship is carried on from the first year to the second year and forward, only if the student is able to retain the same standard of marks during their college time.
Campus Life
Campus life is dull, there are hardly any extracurricular activities organised throughout the year except the fest, and you are forced to attend classes by guards or teachers roaming the grounds or corridors. About 20% of the PCs in the Computer labs did not function properly. The gender ratio is also tipping towards the Male end, because in fields like Mech and Civil Engg, usually only boys take admission.
Hostel Facilities
If you opt for a hostel room, typically 3 people are allotted 1 room on Sharing basis. The hostel rooms are average-sized with 2 single beds, an air-condition attached, 2 fans and 2 wardrobes. A washing machine was available in the common washroom at our time, but I don't think it ever worked.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is quite simple. You get assigned a Roll No and a Room No, where you sit, write your exam, and can leave any time after half of the allotted time for the exam is over. In the MDU exam structure, what we learnt is that it does not matter what you write, as long as you are filling up pages.
Admission
Once the results for AIEEE were revealed, I visited this college with my parents. Situated in the middle of farms and villages, the location of this college is extremely unsuitable. But at first glance, the infrastructure of the college makes up for it. We were taken to the Admin block where we sat down to discuss the course, fees, transportation facilities and rules of the college.
Faculty
The faculty is atrocious! Over the course of 4 years of my college life, I can count on ONE HAND the number of teachers who actually gave a shit about their students, and had extensive knowledge regarding their own subject. The rest just wanted to hassle us for attendance, or complete assignments which we copied from each other without even reading/understanding the questions.
