Well balanced college

I applied for IIEST SHIBPUR, but couldn't get through because my rank and my financial condition didn't support me. No for us general category people there is no such thing, so no quota I got to the college on basis of WBJEE rank. Well the criteria for getting into AOT and in ECE is we need to have completed our 12th board in science and maths(PCM) if Computer background then it's a plus point, and along with this one need WBJEE or JEE rank, if you clear the cut off you will get your seat in first counselling, the minimum percentage for ECE in Aot is 65% in class 12 and there are no age criteria. After clearing the entrance exam, we will get our date when we can go for our counselling, then in Kolkata, we book our seat, then after booking the seat one must visit college within 15 days and complete further procedure then it's done completely, my admission into the college was very smooth and easy.

I chose to become an ECE engineer because the market needs engineers like us and one can compete with the market then it's good. Faculty in Aot is in a good number, but obviously, the number of students is huge, so the ratio of faculty: student is 1: 50. I only know about my own stream, but I can assure you that the faculty member of Aot is very highly educated, HOD sir of my Stream has a PHD degree, research degree, masters degree and a teaching experience of 10-12 years. The same goes for the rest of the faculty members well educated, highly qualified and the way they teach is really practical and always solution orientated, so you can rest there is nothing to fear, Teachers will guide u in every up and down all you need to do is have faith on teachers. Exams are taken weekly, monthly and semester wise, weekly exams are taken by college, monthly exams taken by University and semester exams are also taken by University, and yes exams are easy to pass but you must be attentive in class to what they say.

CAPGEMINI offers an internship of 1 month but I was not allowed there as I got an offer from Cognizant. I heard from my friends that this internship was really hard and they could not qualify for the exams, it's really tough. But I cleared it in my first attempt and did the internship. I don't think I will get any more internships further and I think one good internship is enough and if you do that dedicatedly it's awesome.

To be honest Students of AOT right from the time 1st semester starts are taught in such a way that they are seriously getting ready for placements from 1st semester, but yes one of eligible from semester 6th. Companies that visited us were TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS CAPGEMINI, TECH MAHINDRA, ORACLE, SAP, AMAZON, GOOGLE, etc. Offers were made around 100-200 and mates of my batch grabbed right in it. The highest package offered to us was from Amazon which was around 12 lacs per annum, Google offered but none of us got a chance and the lowest Package was offered by CAPGEMINI and which was 2 lacs per annum. Around 80-90% of students get placed and others opted for higher studies. As I got placed in one of the fortune companies so I am fully dedicated myself to that company and I plan to gain expertise as much as I can and learn as many things I can.

I had to pay around 60000 at the time of admission, which includes one semester fees + college kit, which includes college I'd card, library card, etc. And in every semester I had to pay around 40000-45000, it may increase by 1000-3000 because in few semesters one had to complete some extra course provided by the college, so be prepared for that. After this when you concluded what the total course fees are 350000- 400000. So, you can see that it is a bit costly. But nothing to worry about financial assistance of this college is best, there are many schemes, one such scheme is WBFS which help students whose family annual income is below 300000, so they used to get a fees concession bases on that, I had to pay half of my fees so it helped me a lot, but other than this there are many schemes available like kanyashree, Vivekananda scholarship, government scholarship, and there is the scholarship for sc/st/obs so nothing to worry, you will get the best scholarship based on your merit, so chill.

This college provides a balanced college life, with lots of competition, one who can compete can compete anywhere, but to mention u this is the First college that has such strict rules for ragging, seniors can't even ask you for your intro if you are freshers, if one is found to be guilty, is restricted immediately or is given strict punishment, so relax it's ragging free. There is 2 Annual fest that occurs, one Arcadia and another one tech fest, and it is open for everyone, so enjoy. Books and journals are there but not updated, but there are many valuable books present there which is a great source of knowledge so enjoy reading. The classroom is normal nothing special, yes one good thing is that there is free wifi. Sports facilities are good, one can play cricket/football or anything but after college, hours not before that, and in extracurricular things, one can do anything. There is no such club, but yes seniors arrange small to the big event, with help of the teachers and juniors.

The college has a well managed hostel facility, hostel was 2-3 storey and each storey has 4-5 rooms and each room can adjust 2 people comfortably, and it's bit spacious so relax, yes it's either 2 boys & 2 girls, and yes the ward here is a bit strict, so be careful, you must enter the hostel premises within 10 pm after that it's closed. The meal will be provided to you, and yes the quality of food is good, nothing to complain about, and if you don't want to eat that you can order Zomato, swiggy, as you wish. There is no fixed menu in the hostel. The registration process is completed at the time of admission and one has to pay hostel fees at that time only, yes it's affordable at that time I had to pay 3000 because I stayed with a friend but if u stay single you will pay 5000, so it's up to u. No, I didn't opt for pg but I know there are few pg around who are very good and are very well behaved.
