Life at VIT

Going through the CET process, I had selected multiple colleges as per my marks. The reason I choose Vidyalankar Institute of Technology over any other college was that Vidyalankar's supports its students and the opportunities they provide. Moreover, Vidyalankar provides a phenomenal campus for educational as well as extracurricular activities. I applied for the Vidyalankar Institute of Technology through the CET process offered by the University of Mumbai in the General/Open Category. I have enrolled myself in the Computer Engineering program. The Department of Computer Engineering has a great supportive faculty with a good student-teacher Interaction. Every semester for every program begins with an Induction program. It's an hour-long session briefing the students about all the events scheduled for the semester.

I was always into programming and computers, hence very sure that I wanted to pursue Computer Engineering. The department of computer engineering provides a great faculty:student ratio with mentorship sessions conducted on a regular basis. Most of the professors have either completed their PHD or pusruing PHD. The faculty is very close to the students and provide great opportunities to students as per their areas of interest and help them to develop their skills. The exams are conducted with well advance notice and a study leave in between. The exams are challenging but if one attends on a regular basis, it wouldn't be a big deal scoring.

The students are updated with internship opportunities on a regular basis. The roles offered and the stipend depends on the capability of the student. Several companies offer internships including Startups and well-known established companies with a variety of roles.

The placements activities begin in the 7th semester wherein students are prepared and sit for the interviews. Several companies visit and most of the students are placed by the end of the final year. The students who do not sit for placements aim for further studies for MBA or MS abroad or in India.

The college provides scholarships and not much of a fees hike. Campus placements take place in the final year and a great number of companies delight us with their presence.

Our college has a number of committees and student chapters including a Student Council. Some technical chapters like CESA, ITSA, CSI. IETE, DSC, etc. The VIT Student Council conducts events on a regular basis including VERVE: a college fest and ALGORYTHM: a tech fest. The other student chapters focus on the technical aspect and sometimes also include a few fun events. The college campus includes 3 libraries which not only have a collection of books but a space to sit and study or complete assignments. The classrooms are eqipped with vlive which is a lecture recording system for future refernce for students. Along with this they also have a projector for elearning purposes and the basic standard equipments. The college campus includes a basketball court, badminton court, 2 other grounds and a great DEN with indoor games including table tennis, pool table, fuse ball table, air hockey, carrom, chess, gaming PCs and playstations.
