BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE

Management wise college has to improve a bit. Impartial management would be great.

Entrance Exam: CET. I chose SDM for its fame in North Karnataka. I had to choose colleges from cities near to my hometown and I was lucky enough to get this college.

Since this is an autonomous institute you may come across change in syllabus semester by semester (in a better way). There are few courses which can be dropped or given less importance is what i feel as they seem to be obsolete or completely non related to subject. Over all curriculum has good courses which help in professional growth.

Internship opportunities as researcher or assistant lecturer is provided with the stpehnd of 8000 PM.

Placements are pretty good considering the location where SDM is situated. There were enough number of Companies that visited the campus and as per latest updates placement curve is increasing. Current placement officer has played good role in getting many companies in past few years. Salary offering ranges from 3. 3LPA to 14 LPA until 2015.

Insignia: National level Techno Cultural fest. This was one of the best events when I first joined the college. We had Dr. Abdul Kalam visiting college. Later years due to internal politics Insignia became just an "Event" for the sake of it. Fiesta: Techno cultural fest Good entertainment program.

If you have good ranking and get government seat your fees for 4 years would sum upto 4 lakhs, if you have joined through Comedk or other entrance exams fee structure is comparatively high. Management seats are also heavy priced. Nevertheless if you have enough money and no good ranking you can go for it.

Yes they provide scholarship of 10000 for students scoring 9+ pointers in academics by the end of 1st year, to avail this scholarship you should also have good CET ranking <5000.

Campus is located in such a place where there is no disturbance of traffic, decent environment and best during winters. Gender ratio is pretty equal no much difference observed. Students from both North and South India join. There are plenty of extra curricular activities one for social cause like LEAD, Karavali Sports organized every year, labs are good enough to work and there are enough resources available for the batch. Many competitions like robotics, workshops on IOT, Python etc. were organised during our days.

Best thing that happend to me in SDMCET is hostel. I just loved the way they managed to keep the hostels clean and since hostel is located within campus everything related to college was easily available. The best memories were made in the hostel. Mess was also well maintained and even mess food was good. Only vegetarian food is provided. Every night they provide milk, fruits and ice creams on Saturday afternoons. Mess on Saturday nights.

They held alumni meets and most of the time placements are conducted by alumnus who work in good companies adding to placement opportunities.

They have the best exam practices. To be specific CSE dept. has open book tests which in my perspective is the best method of conducting exams. Needless to say the questions that arrived in open book tests would compel the student to try his best to apply what he/she has learnt.

Faculties are very good in their respective streams/ subject. But, SDM, especially CSE department has the habit of switching faculties to different subjects in which they don't have enough expertise. That was the only concern i had. Other than this faculties are very friendly and helpful.
